The report of the committee on Plater and Drainage, to whom was referred the Water Superintendentfs report for the month of May, 1941, was presented and read; and ordered filed. Finance and Claims. Councilman Lammers, chairman of the finance conunittec, reported that this committee had not been able to check the Treasurerts report for the month of May, 1941, as yet; but that a written report would be presented at a subsequent meeting. Re: defense bonds. City Attorney Daly reported that the City Treasurer had received an inquiry from the Federal Govt. as to the possibility of the City investing surplus funds in defense bbnds, and recommended that the matter be investigated with a view to determining the advisibility of same. This matter vaas referred to the finance committee for investigation and report. BUILDING PERMITS Requests for permission to build and to make repairs and alterations were presented and read as follows: From IN. A. Brumond, to -wit: Port Townsend, 'Jashington June 28, 1941 Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to remodel the dwelling situate 1033 Pierce Street, and build a small addition to the store building adjacent; at an estimated cost of approximately 3 400.00 for materials. The City Clerk reported the receipt of bulletins of the Association of 7''ashington Cities; and same were ordered filed, in the Clerk's office, for the use of those interested: r From George Carlin, to-trit: June 26, 1941 Honorable City Council Port Townsend, lashington Gentlemen: I should like your honorable body at its next regular meeting to take up the question of vacating the right-of-way retained by the City of Port Townsend across Lot 7, Block 30, Hastings First Addition. I understand that use of this right-of-way for the construction of a street or road is extremely improbable, and I feel your body could best benefit the community by granting a vacation of this right-of-way so an improvement of this property, with a consequent addition to the tax rolls, might be commenced.
