Harry Anderson, MayorMarch City of Port Townsend Port Townsend,, 'lashington 1 Dear Sir: Upon examination of the plans for the Access Road, Fort '.7orden to Port Townsend via Cherry Street, by the 'forks Projects Administration, the items in the estimate, Cast Iron '.later Pipe Cl. "A" 4" 1095 L.F. " It it " 4"-250 H. 305 L.F. has been questioned as to the government furnishing said pipe. Such installation is necessary due to the fact that the correspondingly length of wood pipe now w:isting in Cherry Street, must be removed due to cuts and fills in that area. As the road section calls for a 2" road nix mat it was desirable to replace the wood pipe with cast iron. It I:, my understanding that the rules and regulations governing work performed by the ® ;7orks Projects Administration, prohibit such agency from replacing any existing facilities. In lieu of this information, it would be necessary for the City of Port Townsend to fur.ish the cast iron pipe in order that the project may be approved by the named agency. As the City of Port Townsend will be the sponsoring agent, any expenditure that may be made, will be considered as a contribution by the Sponsor. I have been requested by Yr. Ralph Smith, Area Engineer, works Progress Administration, to inform you of this ruling, and trust you will g ive the matter your most serious vonsideration. Very tI'ulir yours, . V1. A. %Gge j ..
