From St. John's Hospital, to -wit:
- Port Townsend, Washington
Nov. 2, 1940
To the Honorable Mayor and
Common Council of the
City of Port Townsend
Gentlemen:
® The Sisters of Charity of the..House of Providence, owners of TIIE ST. JOHN'S IiOSPI'TA', Port
Townsend, Washington, respectfully petition your mayor and Council to authorize the
installation of a standard fire hydrant: on the 14-inch city main at the southwest corner
of the intersection of Sheridan and 9th Streets.
,is are informed by the Wanhington Surveying and Rating L°ureau the installation of this
additional hydrant will enable our institution to obtain a substantial reduction in our
fire and extended coverage rate.
The Washington Surveying and Rating bureau advise us that if another street hydrant is
placed in a location not more than 300 feet from the main hospital building, the risk
will be graded as Sixty (6th) Class, which is the present grading for the business section
of Port Townsend.
At the present time this hospital is graded as Seventh (7th) Class protection due to the
t lack of hydrant facilities.
A check of our records shows that during the past- eight years our 'later bills vreve as
follows;
+e 1933 $433.90 1934 $437.66 1935 $459.66
1936 384.14 1937 463.41 1938 607.17
