Minutes of Regular (called) Session, August 13, 1940, continued
Proposition II. Shall the City Council of the City of Port Townsend be authorized a special
collect by taxation during the year 1941, the sum of approximately $2,777.40, by
and additional levy of not to exceed 3.00 mills upon the dollar of assessed valuation oT

said city, in excess of the city Is empowered by Chapter 2, Laws of the State of Wash-
! ington 1939 (Initiative Measure No. 129), for the purpose of maintaining and improving
the streets of said city?
Section 2.' Said election shall be held and conducted in the manner provided by
Chapter 2, Lavva of the State of Washington (Initative ESenaure No. 129), under the super-
vision and direction of the Jefferson County Election Board.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader, to be
in force and take effect from and after Siva (5) days from the date of such publication.
Passed by the City Council August 13, 1940.
Approved by the Mayor August 13, 1940.

It was moved by Councilman Lammers, and seconded by Councilman Robt. Broom, that the
Third reading be by title only. Upon Roll Call vote, all Tice Councilmen present voted
in the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried.
Third Reading and Passage
The City Clerk then read the proposed ordinance by title only for the Third reading,
ilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that
whereupon it roes moved by Connie
the ordinance do nowpass. Upon Roll Call vote, all Five Councilmen present voted in
the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried.
BILLS AND CLAI)SS
The order of business reverted to "Bills and Claims" by order of the Mayor, whereupon
it was moved by Councilman Robt. Broom, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the
rules of the Council be suspended to allow consideration of the next item.
The City Clerk presented the claim of the Diesel oil Sales Company for estimate No. 1
of the City Street Project No. 5 (bituminous surfacing), in the sum of $2341.85.
After due consideration, the said claim was approved by the Vinance Committee, where-
upon it was declared by Councilman Robt. Broom and seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that
ithis claim be allowed, and that the III and City Clerk issue a warrant upon the City
Street Fund in payment thereof. Upon Roll Call vote, all five Coure ilmen present voted
in the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried.
ADJOURNMENT
No further business appearing at this time for consideration by the Council, it visa
moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that the Council do
now adjourn. Motion carried.
