Minutes of Regular Session of City Council, July 2nd, 1940, continued
Reconvened
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, reconvened in regular
session this 2nd day of July, 1940, at 8:45 O'clock, P.M., and upon Roll Call, the follow-
ing Officers and Members were noted present: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler, City Clerk, C. F.
Christian; Councilmen nobt. Brown; 17m. Lammers, Sr.; Dennis Sullivan; Fred G. Lewis and
Phillip Brown.
REQUISITIONS
Mayor Hirtzler announced that the order of business would revert to that of
requisitions, whereupon a requisition for the Street Department was presented for supplies
as follows:
6 Tires for Truck, 8 ply - marked upon the Tires
2 Tires for Grader, 10 ply - marked upon the tires
Tires to be called for as needed.
Requisition Granted
It was moved by Councilman hobt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the
foregoing requisition be granted. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
It was moved by Councilman hobt. Brown, Land seconded by Councilman Phillip Brown, that
the City Clerk publish a call for bids on tires as stated in the foregoing requisition,
same to be opened at the regular session of July 16, 1940. Motion carried.
Paint Bids
This being the time and place set for the opening of bids for painting the South and
West sides of the City Hall Building, three bids to furnish materials only had been
received from the following companies: Olympic Hardware and Furniture Company; Petro
Paint and Manufacturing Company, and the Tropical Paint and Oil Company. Upon due
deliberation, it was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Lammers,
that all bids be rejected and that the City Clerk notify the bidders to that effect, giving
as the reason that it was the opinion of the Council that due to excessive lime in the
mortar used to point up the building, it would not be possible to make the paint adhere
properly at all points on the surface of the building. Motion carried.
No further business appearing for consideration by the Council at this time, it was
moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman IAuis, that the Council do now
adjourn. Motion carried.
