The information is conflicting whether t:-is will make any money for us or not, in uncertain, but had talked to the county assessor who is a nan in a position bent able to dotermiline t:iis and he thinks it will. The amount would not be a huge num but thou,ht we owe it to the taxpayer of the city to do what vie can to ,,at our fair share of taut lovics. Tic said that it did not increase the tax levies of the City of Port Townsend, it :•emains at 15 mills for the current oxponse fund If it in approved br the voters, it will unable us to continue the name 15 mills for 1967 on if it "X6EUX donent pass then we will levy only so r:uch as is necessary in order to obtain the same dollar amount that we have in 1966 plus improvements to nroporty, in other words wo will have a small increase in ,illaUo value but it will only be th,,t increase reflected by improvement on real property, wo would not got any increase by reason of incroased assestment of property. Tinny are supposedly going; to raise the assent valuation of property all over the state to 25%, the reason the ordinance dosont say and nowhere in the ordinnnce does it ;sake reference to 25 it that it could be unconstitutional because the state constitution says that the assosod valuation be at 50% at fair market value. The emergency ordinance for election expenditures is high, it is not going to cost the city t;2,000, it authorized the Mayor and Clark to issue warrants for the necessary expenses of the election. Attorney Abraham also mentioned that the council had a selling ,job to do in order to pass the issue on the ballot, for it it, donent pass it would cost the city quite a bit of money. It visa moved by Councilman 'Thomas seconded by Councilman Hoglund that the first reading of Ord. No. 1479 be considered the socord reading and the third reading be by title oily. :lotion carried.
