Councilman Ruby spoke bn behalf of the potitiones and roco::unondod the street be vacated.

vacation be denied.
Councilman Siebonbaum said that he was on the com:nittoo and had asked one of the petition

?articular. Councilman Siebenbaum said he was not in favor of vacating the street for onto

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SESSION OF SEPT3,1BER 21, 1965
September 21, 1965
Port Townsend, Washington
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend met in regular session this 21st day of Sept
1965 at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the City Hall. Mayor Sullivan presiding.
ROLL CALL
Officers and members present were as follows: Mayor Sullivan, City Attorney Abraham, City
Clerk Youngblood, Councilmen Thomas, Hoglund, Judy, Ruby, Siebenbaum, Lindsey, Carter.
YINbTES OF THE PREVIOUS SESSIOII
The minutes of the previous session were read in full and it visa moved by Councilman
Siebenbaum seconded by Councilman Thomas that the minutes be approved as read and that the
!:Mayor and City Clerk sign same. Upon.tno question it visa brought out that one of the
councilman had been approched and asked if notices had been posted in the proper places for
the vacation of a portion of Rose & T Street. Notices had been posted according to law.idayor
Sullivan called for a vote. !lotion carried,

Ti:o following building permits were presented and acted upon a follows:

It was moved by Councilman Siebenbaum seconded by Councilman Hoglund that the building
permits be granted. IJotion carried.
TEAR DOMI PERYI'
The following tear down permit wus presented and acted upon as follows:
:_Dose, Cherry_& A. St. Mrs Johnson, to be torn down by the Grace Lutheran Church. To abide
by Ord. No. 907.
It was moved by Councilman Lindsey seconded by Councilman Judy that the tear down permit
be granted. ?lotion carried.
ORDINANCE 310. 1473
Emergency Ord. No. 1473 duly incorporated in the munites of the last previous session Ties
again brought up for pasnage or rejection. It was moved by Councilman Hoglund seconded by
Councilman L1nCsey that the first reading of Ord, No. 2473 be considered the seconded readin
and the third reading be by title only. Tee City •%lee}; arnin read Ord. No. 1473 by title
only and it was moved by Councilman Siebenbaum seconded by Councilman Judy that Ord. No.
1473 do now pass. :Lotion carried.

Councilman Siebenbaum reported that the Finance Committee were having a meeting with the
taunt. of Schools, :ir Gail Stuart on the 22nd of Sept. in regards to the recreation center.
Councilman Ruby reported that a new .star heater vas being installed at the animal shelte .
Teo -City ClerL-'reminded the council the the bid opening for the sale of the 1929 Eire true
ryas due at this time end informed the council that no bids had been received. Counciman Judy
said t--at it was the opinion of bone of t:^.o council nemborr that the Port Ludlow. &&strict
wraich had raquosted the fire truck in the first place needed it far more that the two or
three hundred dollars that the truck rvol d bring on bids, that it could Seared ty the distri t
for so much a year. City Attorney Abraham said that he had talked to the group from Port
Ludlow and that Port Ludlow was now in the Proceso of forming a fire district ❑nd that befor
the city could loase the truck the district would have to be formed.
Councilman Siebenbaum said that he didnt think it would be adequate for use in the Port
Ludlow area for it war too heavy for the type of roads that they '.mad, but if they wanted it
he heurtily vras in favor of leasing the truck. Councilman Siebenbaum :nude a motion seconded
by Councilman Ruby that the fire truck be loaned to the Port Ludlow Fire District for one
dollar a ,year, the district to maintain the upkeep of the truck, keep it licensed and insure.

Councilman Ruby said that he hddb been contacted for a street light by the San Juan Store
area but had told them to write to the council requesting one.
Ccuncilman ruby also said that he h::.d been contacted by the people who re -vested the vacat o
of Rose &. T street if the st-et could be leased. It wan the opinion of the council not to
lease or vacate any street until the rewor project visa over.
