City Attorney Abraham said that the ordinance was to correct an error on ord. no. 2469, t::is section was a:^_•mended two weeks ago and shouldnt have been, what this ordinance does it to restore the 3.00 rate and nothing more. It was moved by Councilman Carter seconded by Councilman Thomas that the first reading of Ord. No. 1471 be considered the second readi g and the gird reading be by title only. Motion carried. City Engineer Becker reported on progress by Elterich Const. Co. on the main transmission line saying that the job was about 70/ completed and that they were doing a fine ,job. Councilman Ruby rerortad that two or three different people had aoproched him on the garbage hours, he said that he-hadnt had a chance to see Joe on it but at anyrato the 7aroa7e nours at the dump seems to be Linda of a fouled up mess because people wvcreecomaing out there and the ,mates are closed and instead of coins back home with a load of garbage or refu_;o, they dumo it along, aide theroads and if you drive around thees different secti ns you will find all soils of tni.n7s loyrn7 around. he said he Ildnt ]mow what could be done about It whether ::e could stretch the :-oars .out a little longer or what we could do, but the dump isnt doing these type of people any good. Mayor Sullivan said that he thought the department was doing a f°:.no job. Mr Simpokas asked if it •gas , possible to extend the hours so not to create the condition that they have now. Councilman Carter said he was asked by Councilman Judy to bring up the street light that was requested at the dog pond, he said tic money was available. Councilman Ruby said that he would like to be enlightened on the ordinance pertaining to dog and cats. -layer Sullivan told councilman Ruby that if he would Go see the city clerk he could get all the information he needed. Councilman Ruby said that a person called Ur Woodward of the humane society and said there was a dog chasing chickens and killing chickens within the city limits, wondered what could be done about t':is. He said the way he understood there is no live stock sup;.oscd to be within the city limits. City Attorney Abraham said this business of having, all kinds of live stock ranrring from chickens to pigs, zheop is cattle, puts ever7one in an embaruuing S position, when we get a complaint fro: someone whose pig; is being 'molested b^ a dog, we try to point out to the conplintiff that tic dog has more right to be there than the pig or whatever it naybo, ooze panne seem to be gracious and h to withdraw the complaint and other - who do not. The purpose of the ordinance is not to protect unathorised livestock. I•r Nokes of the Hadlock area spoke before the council saying that just recently they had r a new rater line installed and all felt out :ere that the water department r crew did an excellent job and deserved a pat on the back. I'.r Glenn Dean of Hadlock Realty said he was representing is Jim Cotton of the Hadlock douse end Hr John Yatlich. He said that Ground had been broken for two buLdings and have found out that no water taps were available. Sun;;..,','' Arey explained that the city was allowing no new taps and that there was a wating list of 23 „e rzons for taps, he mentioned hat the city was only allowed 400,000 gals and 100,000 of that was under contract 66 the navy at Indian Island although the navy was only useing around 6,000 at the -x esent time.
