Motion carried. _ TIEVJ tc OLD BUSINESS Councilman Siobenbaum reported on the request of the Friends of the Library to use the Haller fountain for a wishing well, he stated that the fountain was under the control of the Park Department and if they wanted to get the fountain for a wishing well they would have to :o the Park Board. lie also stated that he didnt think it would be a good idea go for it could plus up the drain and have water running over the streets. Ci:ief of Police Phogley announced that the Safeteon club was having a meeting on the 271:h of January-,-, films would be shorn and would like to have the council attend. Councilman Hoglund said that he had attended a planning commission meeting, it eras a rath ir lengthy meeting, a lot of subjects were covered and one that he thought was important visa i the planning commissions interest in trying to improve their communication with the Council and the public and that they were going to make a concerted effort to have someone from the co=nission at each council meeting to inform the council of any devolopements that were happenin-. He said that the commission were really digging in and getting things done. Chairman of the planning commission, btariolu Green was called upon, she gave a run down on the pro,-ress of the commission and asked the council if they mould like to have the help of tl:e pla_nnin7 commission onbuilding permits, vacations of stmets and etc. City Attorney Abraham said it was a good idea that on such things as street vacaticns where the practice has always been for the 'Mayor to referr to the street committee, that it :would also be a good idea to refer also to the planning commission for dtudy and a report to the council. After some discussion I;ayor Sullivan asked the planning commission to make a study on the current issues of the street vacations and give their report at the public aearin,g that would be hold Feb. 2. Engeneer Becker reported on the areal photor-rapbs of the city, he had talked to the Clark Coleman Runei};s Inc. who were the pinnnins consultants for the city and they had alread a set of photos --Gt t ey had purchased from the conversation denurt:nent, but the rhotos were taken at such a high altitude that it left a lot to be desired. He said that the State is planni to take lore photos this spring, the City of Port Townsend could participate at the cost of 3tenths of a cent per acre, the cost mould run aro':nd 40.00 or 50.00 dollars, the photos would cost more, around 1.50 each. Eng. Becker recomnended that the City of Port Townsend participate with the state. ;I.ayor Sullivan asked the light committee to check the light standards Washington & Lawrenc Streets.
