W ED AS TO F OR:3: City Attorney Councilman Sfiibbenbaum asked hour much turnover there was in the extra patrolmen, that it would not be good to buy uniforms for the extra patro3mien , have them leave and the uniform laying around. Chief Phegley replied that he had only lost four since the start, the uniforms would only be bought for the ones that were and vrould be permanent. For for pants shirt and hat the cost would runt around $63. The departnent have had lots of compliments on the new uniforms and during the Festival and other accessions to have all police dressed alike instead of half and halfwould be much better. I'TE44 & OLD BUSINZESS Councilman Sicbenbaum mentioned that next Tuesday the 10th of March General Election would be held by the City, A polling booth would be up at the Fire Department as usual and the room that was needed was filled, and had to be cleaned out. Mayor Sullivan skid it would be ready. ACCEPTANCE OF it 'TER BID It was moved by Councilman Steve seconded by Councilmen HoKund that the bid of the 54 twin type and 32 single type parking meters of the Duncan arking Ii:eter Co. of 7,089.60 be accepted. ::lotion carried. Councilman Stove mentioned that he had talked to and had received a letter from the General Service Administration on the surplus property that visa going to be sold, he said the locati n would be an ideal spot for a sewerage plant if ever needed that the city couli acquire the property at a 100% discount. After some discussion it was brought out by the City Engineer that a comprehensive plan would have to be drawn up to present to the GSA. Mayor Sullivan referred the matter to the harbor and health committee to look into. mayor Sullivan reminded the Council that the Washington State Cities Convention would be hold in May and if any one d''I would like to go should make reservations soon. Councilman Lindsey informed the Council that he had been contacted by the Rotary club on putting new 1`1X4A signs us for the comming Rhody Festival. ISayor Sullivan reformed the matter to the Street Committee and the Street Supt. I' I i I i Engineer Becker asked the councils permission to call for bids on 10,0001 of steel pipe and the laying of the pipe of around 150,000. Bids to be advertised on the 12th of March and the bid opening on the 7th of April. It was moved by Councilman Lindsey seconded by Councilman Judy that the request be granted. Motion carried. Fire Chief Jones spoke before the Council saying that due to some excess equipment and•_ material at the Fire Ball, he felt that it was the second home for the off duty firemen and when not on duty dorked on the equipment, he felt it was a good idea for in case of a fire there visa always an extra firmen around. He also mentioned the the old moreland Fire Truck should either be junked or preserved.
