I mould like at t:Is time to request that the city council pass nil ordinance leveling a 1 n rcont gross admissions tax on the Port Townsend School District for swimming pool admiss- ions. City Attorney Abraham in formed the council that regardless of whother there was a house on a lot or not, each lot would be assesod the same, if one party owned four lots he would be charged four tinnos as much as thoone who owned tihe one lot. Mayor Sullivan presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and members present were as follows: Mayor Sullivan, City Attorney Abraham, City Clerk Youngblo Councilmen, Judy, Siebenbaum Sindsey Carter, Councilman Steve arrived later in the meeting, Councilmen Rust Hoglund absent. MOVING PERMIT Cotton Corporation, Move Gasoline Storage Tanks from Madison St to 607 Water St. Councilman Lindsey made a motion seconded by Councilman Juldy that the moving permit be granted. Upon the question it was brought up about the legality of putting the gasoline tanks under the sidewalk, City Attorney Abraham informed XMKXX the council that it was legal but no obstructions to protude above the sidewalk. The question arose ab:iut moving the pumps on the sidewalk, the Council again was informed by the City Attorney that that could not be done. Councilman Lindsey thought the matter should be review further and withdrew hie motion Councilman Judy withdrew his second. Mayor Sullivan asked the steet committee to XMKX check the moving permit and have a report at the next regular session. ORDINANCE NO. 1442 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT APPROPRIATION IN THE 1963 BUDGET, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Do to the nature of the above ordinance it had to lay over until the next regular session. NEW & OLD BUSINESS City Attorney Abraham said that at the last council meeting a motion was made to draw up an ordinance on admission tax on the swimming pool, he then proceeded to read section one of ord no 1155. After reading section No 1 he gave his opinion that swimming pools was already covered and that a new ordinance wo•ild not have to be drawn up. He also said that Ordinance No 1155 had been ammended by Ord no 1353 dropping the admission tax from four percent to three percent and gave the opinion that it should be left as such or the State ,just might stppin and say the city was being a little unfair. Councilman Lindsey made a motion seconded by Councilman Carter that the Ordinance stay as was. Motion carried.
