The Port Townsend Kiwanis Club has undertaken, as a civic project, the restoration of the Haller Fountain. lhl
project has the sanction and wholehearted annroval of the Park Board. We ask the Mayor, and City Council, to
authorize the Water Department to renew the water supply to the fountain, and free the drain.

Water Supt. Arey said that all there was to do was ,just to connect the water to the fountain. Councilman
Steve made a motion seconded by Councilman Judy that the water be connected to the fountain and the drain
freed. Motion carried.
BID OPENING
The City Clerk reminded the Council & Mayor that this was the time and place for the bid opening for a 1963
Police car.

It was moved by Councilman Steve seconded by Councilman Hoglund that a five minute recess be taken. Motion
carried.
RECONVENE AND ROLL CALL
Upon reconvening and roll call it was moved by Councilman Steve seconded by Councilman Hoglund that the
low bid of Thomas motors be accepted. Motion carried.
NEW & OLD BUSINESS
The City Clerk brought to the attention of the City Council of the bill of Bumgarner Auto Rebuild 112 for
$55.60. Councilman Siebenbaum said that due to the abence of the City Attorney dead due to the legality of
the bill made a motion seconded by Councilman Steve that it be tabled until the next regular session. Motion
carried. Councilman Hoglund inforemed the Mayor & City Council that the City Attorney wanted him to mention
that the Ordinnance concerning the lowering of the lieenses for Platner Amusment would be ready for presenta-
tion at the next regular council meeting.
Councilman Siebenbaum said that in regards to request by some citizens on dundee hill, the wanted a 4" line,
saying that they were in a neculia situation that they were almost as high as the resovior and never would
get much pressure. When the City water department nut in the new mains he understood that there was a one inch
line and was replaced by a two inch line. Water Supt. Arey said that the city had nut in a 2" tee on the 4"
line and went across the street which tied into a 1" line which was a private line. He said the neonle had
been notified thent they should renew their old line and if they would renew it with a 2" line they would have
no more trouble.
Councilman Steve said he would like to bring up a couple of 1t2EZ items, there were two meters out at the
choicest not in town and that was in front of the Sears & Roebuck and thoes two meters should be out in with
out further delay and that also that the city was loseing about 70 or 80 dollars a month by not having meters
along side the liquor store, there could be anproxmitely 7 or 8 meters installed there and that should be
taken care of without further delay, also the &sger in front of the liquor store should be removed for curtise;
narking as long as the city was receiving money from the state on liquor profits and it would also stop some
of the do ble parking. Councilman Steve said there was about 25,000 of arterial highway funds that he thought
should be invested. fie was informed by City Engineer Becker that could not be invested.
Mayor Sullivan asked the Police and License committe to look into the meter situntaion and have a report at
the next regular session.
Councilman Steve asked the chief of police if the auxiliary policemen wer7 working with the regulars or alone.
Police Chief Phegley said that they were doing both that he had an on the job program and that the auxiliary
police -ere working out real well.
Councilman Carter asked if it would be the councils pleasure to hear a represenative crom a vrivate Insuran
Co. on their views of a retirement vrogram. He said he gave the information to a man .sometime ago and asked
if he would work a nrogram up.. Councilman Steve, said it was illegal to deal with any vrivate co on a retireme
and that was the opinnion b:! the attorney general.
ADJOURNMENT
As there was no further business to enme before the council at this time it was moved by Councilman Steve
seconded by Councilman Siebenbaum that the meeting do .now adjourn. Motion carried.
