The minutes of the Statuatory Buggot session of Oct. 1, 1962 was road in full and it was

moved by Councilman Lindsey Socoudod by Councilman Hoglund that the minutes be approved as
road. Motion carried.

PUBLIC HEARING
'a;for Sullivan announced that at this time the holding of the public hearing on the

vacation of the portion of 4th st lying between the Easterly boundary of Hancock at and the
westerly boundary of sherman strecin the Eiyenbeis Addition.
Councilman Lindsey said that he had looked the street over, talked to some of the otiuor

councilmen about it, talked to the interested parties on the vacation and told them if the
street was vacated that the City would reserve the right of all utilities that might happen
to i;uve to rum through that portion of the street.
Councilman Lindsey made a motion seconded by Councilman Steve that that portion of 4th St
be vacated with the stipulation agreeable to the petitioners that the city reserve the right
to run any type utili':ies.throuJi that portion of the vacated street. Upon the question

HE.; & OLD BUSINESS
I.;ayor Sullivan asked for a discussion on a planning commission. Councilman Steve thought
that a meeting should be held by council members to dissauss a planning commission. After
some discussion if vies the opinion of the Council that the planning comniaion should be take
care of as now. Councilman Steve made a motion seconded by Councilman Hoglund that the Cit3
attorney be instructed to draw up an ordinance forming a planning commision according to
statutes with seven member on the commission. Upon roll call veto Councilman Siobenbaum
voted nee, all other councilmen present voted yea. Motion carried.

Councilman Lindsay said that the Council should get going again on V 9 retirement plan
for City Employees. Councilman Steve recommended to the Council th,.r ',' S delayed until
after the state le islature adjourned at the end of Fob of next year; sa,ing he t ought
that there mould be some type of logislution concerning municipal retirement. Mayor Sullival
asked for consideration of turning the old city jail over to the Jefferson Couuncy Historica:
Society to u:o as a tourist attraction as well as utilizing portions for storage space. Iie
Asked Councilman Carter, Judy & Rust to lookg into the situation and have a report at the
next regular session.

As a result of the October 12th storm, over 40 trees and shrubs were destroyed or damagod
in Chotzomoka Park. This required omergoncy work and wo recommend your inspection to apprais
the damage and the work of restoration.
This work has entailed vigorous measuros to make the place tenable without serious hazard to
the public. 'io are now again open for the popular use that this lino little park enjoys.
'o find that to stablizo our financial position �200 is needed. At the regular meeting of th
Park Board on Oct. 26 it was unanimously agreed on -notion that via respectfully request an
