HomeMy WebLinkAbout00208 MINUTES OF THE REGUt.AR SESSION OF h2E 1 196?I` PETITION ?ETITION TO VACATE PORTION OF FOURTH STREET OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL PLAT OF EISENBEIS ADDITION rO THE CITi OF PORT TOIYNSFUD, JEFFERSON COUNTY, WASHINGTON. rO: THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON: Ye, the undersigned, being more than two-thirds of all owners of real estate abutting upon that portion of Fourth Street of the Supplemental Plat of Eisenbeis Addition to the City of tort Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington, hereinafter described do hereby petition the City Council, City of Port Townsend, State of Washington to make vacation of and to vacate that certain portion of Fourth Street of said addition, described as follows to -wit: That portion of Fourth Street lying between the Westerly boundary of Rosecrans Street and the Easterly boundary of Logan Street in the Supplemental Plat of Eisenbeis Addition to the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County Washington. Petitioners further petition that this matter be refdDred to the proper committee, and in t: event that said committee makes a favorable report upon this petitio , that notice of the hearing of this petition be had in the manner and form as prescribed by ordinance and law. Attached to this Petition is a copy of a plat showing street to be vacated. The petitioners request the vacation of said portion of Fourth Street in order to releive'a serious hardship insofar as Petitioners Luther S. and Katheryne Cox are concerned. Said hards:lp being the fact that the Coxt ran house encroaches upon the street in question, the knowledge of said encroachment was not known by said petitioners at the time they acquired the same. After some discussmo it was moved by Councilman Sullivan seconded by Councilman Ltndsey that a public hearing be held on the above petition on May 15, 1962. Motion carrisi. City Attorney Abraham said that for the record that his reference to the suffiency of the petition went only to form and no to substance. ORDINANCE NO. 1420 All ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND VACATING THAT PORTION OF MAPLE ST. LYING BETWEEN LOTS 1 and B OF BLOCK 1 OF ALDRICH'S ADDITIONI nND BET'aZEN LOTS 4 and 5 OF BLOCK 11 OF ALDRICH'S ADDITION TO THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND. It was moved by Councilman Lindsey seconded by Councilman Steve that the first reading Ord. No. 1420 be considered the second reading and the third reading be by title only. Mo carried. THIRD READING & PASSAGE OF ORD. NO. 1420 Ordinance No. 1420 was again read for the third time by title only and it was moved by Councilman Steve seconded by Councilman Sullivan that Ord. No. 1420 do now pass. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 1421 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT T071NSEND LEAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS TO THE PORT TO'WNSEND FIRE DEPARTp iuc,NT IN Ti)✓ 1962 BUDGET, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Mayor Green said that due to the nature of the above Ord. it would have to layover un the next regular session. PETITION TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TO'NNSEND: The undersigned citizens of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, respectfully petition the City Council of said city to give prompt and urgent attention to the dangers and proble arising from the fact that female dogs in season are permitted to roam at large throughout the City. The result has been that property has been destroyed, people endangered and dogs killed by the pmcks that congregate in these cases. We urge the Council to adopt appropriat legislation which will empower the Humane Society and Police Department to confiscate femal dogs in heat, and to provide fines and penaltios for owners of female dogs who do not keep such dogs confined when they are in season. Signed by 347 Citizens After some discussion Mayor Green referred the above petition to the police & License committee for a report at the next regular session. IiEW & OLD BUS[ ITESS Councilman Siebenbaum WXyAF_XXnj{ISYiddf spoke on the water situation in the chimacum area saying that Mr. Pore had told him of some estimates on tapping the well for more water, Bar that one EngLneering firm estimated a cost of %75,000.00 which included everything. He said that he was amazed at that figure and the City would be interested, but would like to meet with the water committee, City Engineer and Plater Supt. and would give another report at th next regular session. Mayor Green asked if the street Committee had a decision on the request of Pacific Telepho company to place a submarine cable at the foot of Monroe St. After some discussion it was moved b•,, Councilman Sullivan seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the request be granted wi the provision that the Sewer Supt. be contacted.
