I am interested in putting into service, as soon as possible, the recently ncq.dred tank truck donated 1r,
Croon Zellprhach Corn,. The denartr mt has consulted with Crown and other agencies in search of a suitable
pump that could be obtained nt little or no cost, but to no avail. I fi:d that the sum of $y00.00 Would nut
the truck in share to effectively combat grass and brush fires in the community and to transrort water to are
far from hydrants. This sem includes the purchase of a nump, paint job, mechanical repairs, and light weight
forestry type hose. Tabor would be performed by members of the department. I ask the council to give this
matter some thought in making monies available for this worthwhile project, arl as soon as possible as the
dry season will seen be. .ion us.

It was roved by Councilman Mueller seconded by Councilman Eullivhp that the City Attorney be instructed to
draw up an emergency Ong. for $700.00 for the request for funds by the Fire Department. Motion carried.

As this was the tine and place for the Public hearings on the street vacations, Mayor Green had the Clerk
again read the netitbn in full for the vacation of streets for the Sisters of Charity of the Ho se of Provide
Mayor Green called for discussi,n for or against. Hearing none she asked the Council for their decision.
Co,,.ncilman Steve made a motion seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the streets be vacated. Motion carried.

Mayor Green called for the rending again of the petition for street vacation submitted by A. J. Sather.
The Clerk again read the Petition in full for the vacation of the portion of Maple Street. Mayor Green called
for discussion for or against the petition, hearing none she asked the council. for their decision. Conncilmar
Steve --is a motion seconded h, Co,mcilman i.afferty that the said street be vacated. Motion carried.
Attornev Abraham said there would be a Ordinance at the next regular session to take care of the mentioned
street vac?tinn.

Mayor green appointed 6ouncilman Garter to take over the dutite of the retired Councilman Johnsen which
inninded Chair -an of the Pbilding and Misc. committee, and to serve on the Police and License com-ittee and
the Finance ^,c-,cift e. This to continue until the new mayor made out the new committees in June.
Cpunrilman Sullivan said that he had been cut to the new zarhage disposal area and watched how it was take
care off and said twat h= we,rld like to commerd Snpt. Maroldo on the good Job that they were doing.

This will inform you that the undersigned resigns from the Port Townsend Police Department,

effective May 1, 1962. I would like to take this mpportunity to express my appreciation
to each of you for the courtesies you have extended to me during my service with the dept.
I have been offered other employment which I feel I can not disregard. My interest in the
activities of the City and the department will not end with my resignation, however.
