August, 6, 1p61
Honorable idayor and City Council
City Hall,
Port Townsend, ,lashington
Recent newspaper articles tell of the installation of water lines by the City of Port Town-
send to serve homes located outside the city limits. We are pleased to see our city in
position to serve homes even though they are not located within the confines of Port Town-
send. Vfe do feel, however, taxpay ng city residents are entitled to city utilities along
with non -city residents, if not before. Individually we have on numerous ocessions request
of varous city officials the installation of a larger water line to ropluce the smmll and
most cases, privately financed, existing water lines. 'These officials promised action as lc
ago as 1957. Re replacements have been made.
ffe were told the city budget would not warrant the construction of this line of approximate
4 blocks in length. Ne felt this was legitimate excuse until we read of the construction
of a water line to serve non -city residents. In view of this please consider this letter 1
an official request to the City of Port Townsend to construct a wntor line of a size suital
to serve the nomes of the undersigned. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Harry G Gormeau, William M. Thomas Elmer t.enlco, Edgard Hanson, R E McCormick, Fred Gravl
G.R. 'Webb.
Mayor green referred the above communication to the water committee.
