Clemens Grady Chairman of the Board of Trustees �• Zity Attorney Abraham said that Mr. Grady who represents the Elks, discussed this matter with him and showed him a copy of the proposed extension agreement, saying if the Council is satidfied with the operation as it stands and think that the city does not ;:art to take the Golf course back, and -::ant to encourage the Elks with the improvements that they have in mind thee, the extension should be granted. If not i' satisfied then 'he extension should not be granted. Attorney Abraham said the` the lease provides that the course ust be kept open to the public at all tines that there w-s nothing in the lease laying it would f Elks alone. Itwould also acquire an Ord. to c:ae:d the lease that the Elks, be a private course for the , ` renuested. Councilman Steve said that the City was to srall .for two GOU courses and suggested that the Ciiy cut up tic property and derive sang revcnuj.c from it. Councilman Johnson said that if some club wanted to keep up and improve a public golf course for the city of Port To:'rnserd and make It availabel to the public - hot., could we miss on it and was certainly for it. Councilman Siebenbaum said that he had seen :many youngsters playing golf there and after all when they groin no they :•ould be the ones vi,o would tie playing in the _future. Councilman Lindsey asked the question that he knew a couple of people who did not belong to the Elks and (( want d to join the Golf Club and .:ere tld that they had to be an elk before joining.
