MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SESSION OF OCTOBER 4 1960

The City Council of the City of Port Townsond mot in regular session this 4th day of Oct.
960 at 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor Leighton presiding.
ROLL CALL
Officers and members present were as follows: Mayor Leighton, City Attorney Abraham, Cit
lark Youngblood, Councilman Sullivan, Mueller, Lafferty, Steve, Siobonbaugi, Lindsey & Johns n
BID OPENING
It was moved by Courcilman Sullivan seconded by Councilman Lindsey, that the regular orde
of business be dispensed with in order that bids might be opened at this time. Motion corrie .

It was moved by Councilman Sullivan seconded by Councilman Lindsey, that the Council race s
or five minutes to consider the bids. ].lotion carried.
RECONVENE & ROLL CALL
Upon reconvening, all seven Councilman were present.
BID ACCEPTANCE
After considerable discussion on the two bids whether to accept a used machine from the
Leader Co. Bid, or a new Machine by the Burroughs Corporation, it vies decided to accept the
new machine by the Burroughs Corporation, upon which Councilman Lafferty made a motion secon e
by Councilman Lindsey that the Burroughs Corporation Bookkeeping Machine be accepted, motion
carried,

AN ORDINANCE MAKING AND FIXIIIG THE TAX
LEVY FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND FOR
'
THE YEAR 1961.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TO'"IIISEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLO4IS:
Sectionl. That there is hereby levied upon all the taxable property in the City of
Port Townsen-,, tq following sums of money and rates of tax levy for the different purposes
heroin designotod'for the year 1961, and the rate of taxation upon the dollar of assessed
valuation of said City for such purposes is as follows:
FIRST: For the payment of Current Expense And for the Current Expense Fund, the
sum of $25,029.09 and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fired at 8.6 mills on the
dollar.
SECOND: For the purpose of maintaining a Public Library and for the Library Fund,
the sum of $8,440.04 and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 2.9 mills on
the dollar.
TURD: For the purpose of maintaining a Public Park and for the Park Fund, the sum

6.6,111.76 and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 2.1 mills on the dolly

FOURTH: For the maintenance and iml,rovement of the Public Streets of the City and fo:
the City Street Fund, the sum of $1,164.14 and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby

Fifth: For the ':osritalizntion and Medicnl Service of injured paid firemen and for
Pensions for the Firemen's Relief and Pension Find, the sum of $2,910.36 and the rate of tax

levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 1.00 mills on the dollar.
SIXTH: For the Port Townsend General Obligation Bond 195B and interest, the sumof
$5,820.72 and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 2.00 mills on the dollar,
Section 2. Tnnt the Mayor and City Clerk of said City are hereby authorized and
directed to certifty to the County Auditor and County Assessor of Jefferson County, Wnshintoi
the foregoing tax Levy of said City.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader to be
in force and take effect as provided by Low.
Passed by the City Council and approved and signed by the Mayor on this 4th day of
October, 1960.
