COMMUNICATIONS
The f6llowing communication was read and acted upon as follows:
JEFFERSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, to -wit:
Nov. 2, 1959
The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
Port Townsend, Washington
Gentlemen:
Because heatis necessary in the rooms above the old fire hall, use of which has been
granted by you to the Jefferson County Historical Museum, we wish to make the following
report.
An oil heater would be unduly expensive to operate because of the amount of work involved in
keeping the heater supplied with fuel. The heat would be intermittent, and there is always
a certain accumulation of soot which high winds can puffback into the room.
An electr`c heater cannot be considered because of the age of the wiring, and the danger of
overloading the circuit.
Accordingly we or planning to instatt a Corvaire automatic gas heater, 85,000 BTU, in the
large room. This will use the chimney for a vent. The gas will be brought up the side of
the building, and through one small hole in the wall. The cost of the furnace and its
operation will be borne by the Jefferson County Historical Society.
We believe that hbis will meet our problem of heat, without in any way damaging or endanger-
ing the rest of the building.
Respectfully submitted,
Jefferson County Historical Socioby
