would like to request that a street light be installed on the corner of Oak and Taft
treat. This corner is very dark and has become a place for parking cars and drinking, The
ccupants of the cars have several times made a great deal of noise and thrown their beer
ottles against the nearby homes. I live alone and find it a very frightening experience to
e awakened by bottles hitting the house at midnight end later. :Also children traveling to

judge, A.C. Grady, took in the traffic court conference held in Seattle August 11-13.
His participation, and that of other public officials from t.e various parts of our state
contributed to the presentation of one of the finest programs of its kind ever hold in this

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Marilou Leighton, Manor of the City of Port Townsend, Part Townsend,
Washington, do hereby urge the citizens of this city to observe Friday, October'.24, 1958
as United Nations Day by means of community programs which will demonstrate their faith in
the United Nations and contribute to a better understanding of its aims, problems, and

AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend,
Washington, establishing a fee for the 1
issuance of building, moving and tear down
permits, and requiring that such permits
be displayed on the affected premises.
RHEREAS it is required by Ordinances heretofore enacted that a permit be obtained
for the construction, alteration, improvement, moving or tearing down of anstbuilding or
structure in the City of Port Townsend, and
WHEREAS it is deemed necessary and urgent that a fee be established for the issuance
of such permits, now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, as follows:
Section 1. A fee for the issuance of permits for the purposes of building, constructs
alter ng�-a�ving, moving or tearing down buildings is here and hereby established, and
said fee shall be in the sum of one dollar (41.00) for each such permit issued, and said
fee shall be payable to the City Clerk at the time application for such permit is made.
Section 2. Each building permit, moving permit or tear down permit issued by the City
Clerk a�yment of the required fee shall be prominently displayed ul•on the building
for which such permit was obtained, subject to the inspection of the City Police or City
Street Superintendent, and such permit shall ::o prominently displayed until such time as
the building, moving or tear down operation for which the permit was granted is fully
completed.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall become effective five days after its passage, approval'
and puET c%tTon as required by law.
INTRODUCED AND READ FOR THE FIRST TINE at a regular meeting of the City Council held on
the 16th day of September 1958.
Councilman Mueller commented on the above ordinance that the majority of the Council felt
that a $1.00 charge was sufficient although he was for a graduated fee, but went along
with the majority and it cost the city at least that much to issue the permits. With that
Councilman Mueller moved that the first reading be considered the second reading and that
the third reading be by title only. Seconded by Councilman Siebenbaum. Upon roll call vote
all seven councilman voted in the affirmative and motion carried.
T;1IRD HEADING AND PASSAGE
ORDINANCE NO 2346 was read for the third time by title only, and it was moved by Councilman
Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Swinhoe that Ordinance No 1346 do now pass. Upon roll
call vote all seven councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion carried.

ORDINANCE NO. 1347
IN ORDINANCE OF the City of Port Townsend,
Washington, amending Sections 6 and 7, of
Ordinance No. 113B, passed February 17, 1942
and approved February 18, 1942; and thereby
increasing the fees charged for garbage service
in said city.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Port Townsend, i1lashington, as follows:
Section 1. Section 6 of Ordinance 113E of the city, passed on February 17, 1942, and
aoprov�"F7_the Mayor on February 18, 1942, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 6. Garbage shell be collected not less then once a week in residence districts
of the C y of Port Townsend and daily in the busine-s districts of the City of Port
Townsend. The rate to be charged for garbage collection shall be $1.50 per can for the
collection of one can of garbage per week, provided, however, that rates for collection of
garbage from places in the business district requiring more frequent collection than once
per week shall be charged at a monthly rate based upon the number of cans collected per
week,to-wit, the sum of 75¢ per month for each can collected per week, and further provide
however that where it is permissible under the terms of this Ordinance to keep rubbish
in containers other than cans, the charge for collection of such rubbish shall be equal to
the charge for collecting garbage, which charge shell be computed by the Superintendent of
the Garbage Department on the basis of 75� her week for the equivalent of oath can, or otn
container of similar size, of rubbish collected per week.
Section 2. Section 7 of Ordinance no 113E of the city, passed on Februaryl7, 1942, and
approveTny the Mayor on February 1B, 1942, is hereby ammended to read as follows:
Section 7. Garbage shall be collected from all tennanted or inhabited buildings of eve:
