MINUTES OF REGULAR SESSION OF AUGUST
7ouncilman Sullivan reported for the Humane Society that for the month Of July and June ther
Yore a total of 122 dogs and cats were destroyed and that there were still plenty around.
Mayor Leighton announced that she had made two appointments, one was the reappointment of
;ouncilman Mueller as the City Council represenative to the board of health of the Olympic
ieslth District. The Second apj•ointment was the park board appointment to replace Mr Fred
Nalsh who resigned and the new appointee is Mr. Chester Flint. His term is a one yar term
rectoactive to June 2. 1958.
Councilman Sullivan commented on what he had to say hab been brought upon the floor before
anD that was the gas and oil that the City buys from different whole sale places. He didnt
know what could be done about it but there should be a check on gas and oil coming in to the
city tanks and there should be a check going out of the tanks to the different departments
who use gas and oil. He said this should be worked on and something should be done about it.
Mayor Leighton said she planned on having a meeting very soon with the different department
heads who use gas and oil and would try to work out a working arrangement to have a better
check on fuel. Mueller

answer at the next regular council meeting.
Adjounment
As there was no further business to come before the Council at this time, it was moved by
Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Siebenbaum that the meeting adjoourn. Upon
roll call vote all seven council men present voted in the affirmative,, Motion carried.

The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this 19
day of August, 1958, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council chambers of the City Hall, Mayor Leighton
presiding.
ROLL CALL
Officers and members present were as follows: Mayor Leighton, City Clerk Youngblood, Cit
Attorney Abraham, Councllmen Swinhoe, Lindsey, Aiiery, Mueller, Sullivan. Councilmen Laffer
and Siebenbaum absent.
MINUTES OF TIE; PREVIOUS SESSION I
The minutes of the previous session were read in full and it was moved by Councilman Muell
and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the minutes be approved as read and that the Mayor

and City Clerk be authorized to sign same. Upon roll call all five councilmen present vote
in the affirmative and motion carried.
REPORT OF OFFICERS
The Chief of Police report for the month of J47 1958 was read and was ordered filed.

The following building permits were presented and read.

It was moved b, Councilman Lindsey and seconded by Councilman Avery that the building
permits be granted, upon roll call all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and
motion carried.
TEAR DOWN PERMIT
Carl R. Seavey, 3 room house, frame, 1011 Blaine, to abide by Ord. 907.
It was moved by Couhcilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Swinhoe that the tear down
permit be granted. Upon roll call all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and
motion carried.
