It has come to my attention that 57th Street at Kuhn Street has been broken up and dest-
oyed, with the intention of having it declared "vacant" and made into a lawn by Mr. and Mrs C
oak.
It is most unfortunate that people insist on closing streets in an up and coming new dist
_ ict. 57th street has been my only access road to my property on the north side for many
Tears and has been graded by myself in 1939 and 1940, although half of this 57th street has
been vacated to Mr. Holly sometime ago, which action had been protested by me at that time.
LIt is a grave mistake, whereby the city shoud take steps to regain this half of the vacs-
ed street again as soon as possible. This other half of the street is an open street and
as now been destroyed doliberately.
Mr. Shortley owns two lots along this street and it is also impossible for him to get to
these lots.
My future plans for my waterfront and view property is to develop a subdivision of better
® omes, with 57th and 58th streets extending up to tho fort fence.
I vigorously protest this closure and destruction of 57th street and urge you, the City
ouncil to take appropriate steps to reestablish this street and punish the violators and ,
eke them pay the cost.
® I am spending time and money trying to make North Beach Community a more pleasant place
o live by eliminating and draining a large mosquito breeding area and building it into a
ice looking field. I consider I am doing the community and the City a great favor, only
o be fought and insulted from every corner, including the local newspaper. I hope to have
he ditching completed this fall, with or without the co-operation of Mr. and Mrs Porter.
Yours very respectfully,
1 Albert Follme.
PS: I also protest the moving of old buildings to that beach area. No building permit
lrould be granted to the Community Club to establish an unsightly building in the district.

Lady Mayor and Gentlemen:
After mailing the letter of July 18th, I received the Leader and noticed the Half Street
roblem article.
In order to keep the record straight, I wish to say that I did not say I would provide a
ulldozer for opening the street. What I did say was that I had originally graded and bull-
ozedthis street myself and it was an open street. And it is an open street doday, even
hough it hasnt been used by me lately. To save lots of misunderstanding one must only study
the city records. It should be all there.
1 All I ask is fair play, honesty and no partiallity. This 57th Street is an spen street a
he parties who destroyed it should be cited into court and charged the full cost of restorin
I do not intend to what the Leader calls obliterate with a bulldozer. Theta just plain
istorting the truth. But I ask and urge the City Council to take immediate steps to restore
his street and bring the builty ones to justice.
Yours very respectfully,
® Albert Follme.
