The minutes of the previous session were read in full and it was moved by Councilmen
Mueller and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the minutes be approved as read and that

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS ORDINANCE NO. 1342
The above Ordinance was read to the Council for the first reading at the regular
session of June L, 1956, a copy is attached to the minutes of that meeting and thereby
incorporated in those minutes.
It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Mueller that the first
first reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading be by title only.
upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion carried.
THIRD READING AND PASSAGE
Ordinance No 1342 was read for the third reading by title only and it was moved by
Mueller and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the Ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call,
vote all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion carried.
NOTICE OF HEARING APPLICATION
FOR
VACATION OF ALLEY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: That Carl E. Jensen, Port Townsend Branch President of The
Church Of JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER 'DAY SAINTS has filed in the office of the City Clerk of
the City of Port Townsend, an application for the vacation of a alley in the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
That alley located in Block 20 lying between Lots 1,2,3 and 4 on the Easterly side
thereof, and Lots 5,6,7, and 8 on the Westerly side thereof of said Block 20, lying South
of the Southerely line of 24th Street and North of the Northerly line of 23rd Street in
O.C. Hastings Supplemental Plat to the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, State of
Washington. And that said application will be heard in the Council Chamber of the City mI
thax&t ItIxZr7Qif Council of the City of Port Townsend at the City Hall on Tuesday, the 17th
day of June 1958, at the hour of 7;30P.M.
WHERE AND WHEN, any person may appear and be heard for or against said application.

Councilmen Siebenbaum reported that he had looked over the property and that the Church
would be built in the center of said property and was informed that the balance of the
property would be landscaped, therefore was in favor of vacation of alley.
Councilman Sullivan stated that the public should be notified.
City Attorney Abraham stated that a Ordinance would be drawn on condition that petitione
pay all costs of publishing.
It was moved by Councilman Mueller and seconded by Councilman Siebenbaum that under the
above condition that the vacation of alley be granted. Upon roll call vote all seven
Councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion carried.
UNFINNISIED AND NEW BUSINESS
At this time Councilman Mueller stated that this was the time for the election of a
Mayor Pro-Tem and that it was customary to elect a Councilman with many years of experience,
and service and placed the name of Councilman John Siebenbaum for nomination. After no
further nominations, Mayor Leighton called for a roll cell vote, Six Councilmen voted in the
affirmitive Councilman Siebenbaum voted no. XKKXXNX6M Mayor Leighton announced that
John Siebenbsum was elected Mayon Pro-Tem.
Councilmen Mueller informed the Council that he had contacted two painters on painting
the Council Chamber, One painter informed him that the job was to big, the second pWnter
said he would do the painting for $416.00. Councilman Avery informed the Council that the
;fund at this time would not permit the painting this year and advised that the painting
be passed up this year.
At this time Mayor Leighton advised the Council of New Appointments as follows:
