COMMUNICATIONS
From United States Department of Commerce, Weather Bureau to -wit:
April 17, 195B
City of Port Townsend
Port Townsend, Washington
Gentlemen
For the past several years the have exercised our option to renew each year Lease
C4wb-890, which covers the gratuitous use of a 20 by 20 foot parcel of land located in the
city -owned street end (Mafison Street) approximately 40 feet southeast of the intersection
of Madison and 'Franklin Street'. We have suggested to our Regional Office and they have
concurred that preparation of a gratuitous agreement to cover this lease would eliminate
the annual work necessary to keep the peasant type of contract in force.
With your approval, we would like to make this change and eliminate the provision
that the Government will reimburse the Lessor for electricity consumed since the present
procedure of paying the Power Company directly for the Electrical power is satisfactory.
By eliminating this provision, we would be able to write a gratuitous agreement for this
site.
Your agreement to this plan will be appreciated.
Very truly yours,
(s) Harry A, Downs
Meteorolog ist in Charge.
The above communication was referred to the Street Committee.
