Mr. Joseph G. Ryan, City Clerk.
City of Port Townsend,
Port Townsend, Wa3hin?ton
j Deer Mr. Ryan:
I have your letter of May 24, and under the circumstances it might be more
appropriate to take a population census of Port Townsend in 1958, after the Fort
Torden property is converted into a correctional institution.
As you know according to statute, the effective census date is April 1, and any
changes (except for territorial annexations) made subsequent to that date cannot be
added or substracted from the population of a municipality.
If I can be of assistance to you in any way, please lot me know.
