PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 1331
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend,
Washington, amending Section 1 of Ordinance
No. 1330, passed and approved March 5, 1957.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington as follows:
lSection 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1330 of the City,-
j passed and approved March 5, 1957, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1. The following words have the meanings here after
Ij set forth unless context clearly indicates that another meaning is
intended:
(a) The word "System" shall mean the water system of the city
as added to, improved and extended out of the proceeds of the sale of the
bonds authorized herein and as the same may be otherwise and later added
to, improved and extended for as long as any of said bonds are outstanding;
provided, however, that said word "System" shall not include that part of
the water supply and distribution system of the City leased to Crown Zeklerbach
Corporation under date of March 15, 1956.
I; (bQ The word "Bonds" shall mean the Water Revenue Bonds of the
City issued pursuant to and fort he purposes provided in this ordinance.
(C) Wherever the words " Water Revenue Fund" are used in this
ordinance to define a specific fund of the city, the same shall mean the
"Olympic Gravity Water Fund" of the city heretofore created.
Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective five days
from and afters sage, approval and publication as required by law.
INTRODUCED AND READ FOR THE FIRST TIME at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on March 19, 1957.
INTRODUCED AND READ FOR THE SECOND ABID THIRD TIMES, PASSED BY
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY AND APPROVED BY ITS MAYOR at a regular meeting of
the City Council held on April 2, 1957.

After a little discussion it was moved by Councilman Ellis and seconded by Councilman
Avery that the ordinance be tabled until the next meeting so that the City Attorney could
study the amendment. Upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the
affirmative and motion carried.
PETITION
To the Honorable 'dayor and Council of the City of Port Townsend:
The undersigned petitioners respectfully reccommend and suggest that the City of
Port Townsend enter into negotiations with the United States Navy to the end that the said
City acquire for its own use that water line which connects with a city owned line about
halfway between Chimacum and Hadlock and runs to the Portage Canal.
The Clerk informed the Council that the Petition had a total of thirty (30) signers.
Mayor Bangerter referred the petition to the Water Committee.
IIIiPINNISEED AIdD NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Bangerter announced that as the term of the Fire Chief Roscoe Henry Winters
had run out he visa at this time appointing Yr. Roy Dale as the new Fire Chief.
Councilman Steve informed the Council that he wanted to go on record that the
appointment would be in opposition to the best interests of the Fire Department.
Councilman Siebenbaum told the Council that although Sir. Dale was a Friend of his he
IT felt from his own experience that Mr. Dale was to old for the position of Fire Chief. He
also said that the Volunteer Fire Department should have something to say about who their
Fire Chief was and asked for a consultation with the Volunteer Fire Department. Mayor
Bangerter then withdrew his appointment.
