ADJOURN1ENT No further business appearing for consideration by the Council at this time, it was moved by Councilman Maroldo and seconded by Councilman Lewis, that the Council to now adjourn. Motion carried. Attest: REGULAR SESSION OF CITY COUNCIL, TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 1940 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Port Townsend, Washington April 16, 1940 The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this 16th day of April, 1940, at 7:30 otelock, P.M., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Mayor H. L. Hirtzler presiding. ROLL CALL Upon Roll Call, Officers and Members answering present were as follows: Mayor H.L. Hirtzler, City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk, C. F. Christian, and Councilmen J. F. Maroldo, C. E. Richards, Robert W. Brown, and Wm. Lammers, Sr., Councilman Sullivan arrivin later in the session. MINUTES APPROVED It was moved by Councilman Richards, seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that the minutes of the previous session be approved as written. Motion carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS City Treasurer The report of the City Treasurer for the month of March, 1940, was read and referred to the Finance Committee. Chief of Police The report of the Chief of Police for the month of March, 1940, was read and ordered f: Sullivan Arrives Councilman Sullivan arrived at this time and took his seat in the Council. Water Superintendent The monthly report of the Water Superintendent was read and referred to the Water Committee. BUILDING PERMITS Requests for permission to build or erect additions were presented and read as follows From E. W. Helander, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington April 15, 1940 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to erect a seven room, frame, dwelling, approximately 371 x 28+, on my property situate Lot 7 & 8, Block One, Al Pettygrovets Addition; at an estimated cost of approximately $1,500.00, for materials. ' 4 From Carl Kneeland, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington April 3, 1940 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to build an addition, 81 x .10+, to the building situate on my property Lot 7, Block 3, Plummerts Addition; at an estimated cost of $75.00 for materials. Respectfully submitted, Carl Kneeland Permits Granted It was. moved by Councilman Sullivan, seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the permits be granted in accordance with the foregoing requests. Motion carried. COMMUNICATIONS From Depart. of Highways A letter from the Dept. of Highways showing the City of Port Townsend's February allotment of gas tax funds to be $589.58, was read and ordered filed. From Assoc. of Wash. Cities City Clerk, C. F. Christian acknowledged the receipt of Information Bulletin No. 57 of the Bureau of Governmental Research, and a Wash. news letter of the American Municipal Assoc., services of the Assoc. of Wash. Cities, and stated that any Councilman so desiring could find them on file in the City Clerk's office. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUS]NESS Re: Wood Sawing A verbal requisition to have the wood now piled next to the City Hall sawed into propel lengths for use in the building was presented, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that Mr. F. H. Lammers be awarded the sawing of said wood at the price of 75� per cord, as quoted by Mr. Lammers. Re: Girl Scout Cabin City Attorney Daly reported that the forms provided Mayor Hirtzler by the Social Security Commission, and subsequently delivered to Mr. Kirsch of the local N.Y.A. project, had been completed, but that clearance had not as yet been obtained from the District N.Y.A, office to proceed with the work. Re: Street Light Mr. William Buse, who was present in the Council Chambers, stated that he wished to bring to the attention of the Council the matter of a street light at the corner of Adams and Franklin Streets. This matter was referred to the Street and Light Committees for investigation and report at the next regular session.
