Minutes of Regular Session April 2, 1940, continued
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Police Committee
Councilman Maroldo reporting for the Police Committee upon the matter of Police Matron
for the skating rink, which was referred to that committee at a previous meeting, presented
and read a written report as follows:
Honorable Mayor & City Council
Gentlemen:
Pursuant to motion of the City Council, the undersigned members of the Police and License
Committee, met with William Buse concerning the matter of Police Matron at the skating rink.
Also present were Police Chief Willestoft and City Attorney Daly.
We see no necessity for the appointment of a Police Matron, as an ex-officio member of the
City Police Department, and so informed Mr. Buse. If he wishes to employ a female super-
visor, that is entirely up to him.
We informed Air. Buse that if he wanted the supervisor to be vested with official police
powers, that the Chief should agree to the person appointed, in view of the fact that the
Chief is liable for the acts of police subordinates, under his official bond.
J. F. Maroldo
Mr. Buse, the operator of the skating rink visa present in the Council Chambers and
