A resolution relative to title to property purchased by Port Townsend Council, Girl Scouts of America, was presented of this time in conformation with action taken by the City Council at the special (called) session on March 12th, and read by the City Clerk as follow WHEREAS, Port Townsend Council, Girl Scouts of America, has purchased a tract of land in Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington, for the purpose of erecting thereon a meeting place for such Girl Scouts and as a civic center, and have made application to the State Social Security Committee for grant-in-aid, in order to accomplish their objectives, and, WHEREAS, it appears that funds are not available for that purpose under Chapter 205, Laws of Washington, 1939, unless sponsored by a municipal corporation, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT T9k7NJEND: That Pee title to the property heretofore purchased by Port Townsend Council, Girl Scouts o America, be taken in the name of The City of Port Townsend and that The City of Fort Townser II do now become the sponsoring agent for the foregoing purposes, and that the Mayor of the City of Port Townsend be and he is hereby authorized to make application for grant-in-aid, in the sum of $500.00. Adopted this 12th day of March, 1940. Attest: I Cit y Clerk Resolution Adopted It was moved by Councilman Maroldo and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the fore- going resolution be adopted. Upon Roll Call vote all four Councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS Re: Willow Street Sewer There being present in the Council Rooms, citizens of the "Willow Street" community having petitioned the City to attempt to provide sewer service for the said community, and Councilman Robt. Brown having promised a report on progress at this session, the City.Clerk and City Attorney, in view of the absence of Councilman Robt. Brown, due to illness, out- lined the work accomplished toward providing for such a sewer, and some of the steps planned to make it possible and explained that this work must necessarily lag somewhat during the absence of Councilman Robt. Brown, inasmuch as he personally had been making all plans and arrangements. Recess It was moved by Councilman Richards, and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the Council recess at this time (8:10 P.M.), for a short period. Motion carried. Reconvened The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, reconvened in regular session at 8:45 o'clock, P.M., and upon Roll Call the following Officers and Members were noted present: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler; City Attorney W. J. Daly; City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen Wm. Lammers, Sr; Phillip E. Brown; J. F. Maroldo. and C. E. Richards and Dennis Sullivan. Re: Fire Zones It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Phillip Brown, that the City Attorney take steps to determine the possibility of re-establishing the boundaries of the First and Second Fire Zones, with a view to making more liberal building restrictions, and to determine the effect, if any, of such action upon fire insurance rates. Motion carried. Re: Cotton Building Permit Application It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the application of Mr. Harry Cotton for a building permit as presented at a former meeting of the Council, be rejected at this time. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT No further business appearing at this time for consideration by the Council, it was moved by Councilman Maroldo, and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the Council to now adjourn. REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, TUESDAY, APRIL 2, 1940 Port Townsend, Washington April 2, 1940 The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend; Washington, met in regular session Chia 2nd day of April, 1940, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Mayor Hirtzler presiding. Lewis, J. F. Maroldo, C. E. Richards; Councilman Dennis Sullivan arriving later in the session. MINUTES APPROVED The minutes of the previous session were read in full and there being no omiasions or corrections, were ordered approved as read. Sullivan Arrives Councilman Dennis Sullivan arrived during the reading of the minutes and took his seat in the Council.
