Section 22. All other services shall be by meter and the rates for crater supplied by
meter shall be for the quantity used in any one month as follocls:
A minimum rate of 32.25 for 4000 gallons or less; 60� for the following 1000 gallons j
above 4000 gallons, and 30; for the following 1000 gallons above 5000 gallons, up to 6000
gallons; all over and above 6000 gallons, 21d por 1000 gallons,
In computing meter rates as above provided, results ending in one and two cents will
be courted "0"; results ending in three, fo:::•, six or seven cents will be counted "5"; and
results ending in eight or nine cents will be counted
Section 23. All bills for water by fixed or flat rate are due and payable on the
first day of each month in advance, at the office of the City Treasurer, without any notic
whatever to the consumer, but if the same are paid on or before the loth day of each month
a discount of 25q shall be allowed.
All bills for the use of water by meter shall be duo and payable on the first day of
each and ever;; succeeding month, and if not paid within ten days from date of due date, th
sarne shall be considered delinquent.
In all cases where crater is not paid within the time provided by law, the pnyment may
be enforced by shutti::g off the water until all charges including charges for "shut off" aid "turn on"
shall have been paid.
Section 24. ';.hen water has been shut off to any premises for non-payment of water
charges, the same will not be turned on until said charges shall have been paid in full,
together with a penalty of ,$1.00 each, for "shut off" and "turn on", provided, however,
that nothing shall prevent tire superintendent from malting special contracts for the pur-
pose of liq uidating delinquent water accounts.
Section 25. That in the instances whero the owners of premises have not paidfor
meters, the City may rent the same and the rent for such meters shall be at the following
rates nor month:
One-half inch or three-qun.ter-inch meter, 25;:.
i One inch or one and one-half inch meter, 50�.
Two-inch meter, 75y.
Three-inch meter, k1.00.
Four -inch meter, $2.00.
j Six-inch meter, $3.00. �
Section 26. '6hen bills for water charges have been certified to the City 'Treasurer
or special contracts made by the Superintendent and certified to the City 'Treasurer, the
is City Treasurer shall not accept any payment less than as stipulated therein.
Section 27. It shall be unlawful for any unauthorized person to have and ]coop in his
possession or under his control any curb cook key, valve key, or hydrant wrench to the
city water system, and the fact that water has been turned on after the same has been shut
off by the Superintendent shall be and is prima facie evidence of the possession of a curb
cock key, valve key, or hydrant wrench.
Section 28. The Prater Superintendent, with consent of the City Council is hereby
authorized to make special contract s for the use of crater in extraordinary cases when
the same do not conflict with the terms of this ordinance.
Section 29. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine
in any sun not exceeding one hundred ($100.00) dollars, or by imprisonment in the City
i Jail for a term not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 30. If any provision or section of this ordinance shall be, for any reason,
held to be invalid or unconstitutional, such holding shall not effect the validity of this
ordinance as a whole, or any other part thereof.
Section 31. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the
same are hereby repealed.
Section 32. That this ordinance be published once in the Port ''2ownsend Leader, to be
in force and take effect from and after January 1, 1940.

Prater Ordinance to Lay Over
City Attorney Daly recommended that the ordinance relating to the sale of rater, be
carried over to the next regular session, for any further action in order that the Council
might more fully study its provisions, and it was so ordered by the Mayor.
