Councilman Lewis stated that the Coast Guard officers at the local Training School had
expressed a desire to have a street light installed at the intersection of Jefferson and
Yonroe Streets, the point of entrance to the School, and moved that the City instruct the
Puget Sound Poorer & Light Company to make such an installation. The request for an addition

street light on Cleveland Street, east of Sheridan Avenue, at a point opposite the entrance
to St. John's Hospital, was brought up at this time and the installation of same included in
the motion made by Councilman Lewis, whereupon said motion was seconded by Councilman hobt.

Re: Bird Sanctuary
It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Lewis, that the City
Attorney be instructed to dvaft a resolution designating the so-called "Swamp" area, as a
bird sanctuary, and that the same be presented at the next regular meeting of the Council.

Re: City Hall Repair
The natter, of pointing up the South and West sides of the City Hall building, was again
brought to the attention of the
members of the Council, and after short general discussion,

was moved by Councilman Lewis and seconded by Councilman 'Waroldo, that the City Clerk issue
a call for -bids to perform this work. Said bids to be received at the office of the City
Clerk not later than 5:00 P.Y., Tuesday, November 21, 1939. Motion carried.
Recess
At this time (8:25), it was :coved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman
Isar Oldo, that the Council recess for a short period, Lotion carried.
Reconvened
'The Council reconvened in session at 8:30 o'clock, P.1:., with the following officers
and members present: ;.ayor H. L. Hirtzler, Oity Attorney 7. J. Daly, City Clerk C.F.
Christian, and Councilmen Fred G. Lewis; Philip E. Brown, J. F. Maroldo, C. E. Richards,
Robt. W. Brown, and l;m. Larrm:ers, Sr., and Dennis Sullivan.
It was moved by Councilman nobt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Yaroldo, that the sum
of j75.00, 'Le
granted :.:r. L. F. Yillar, as rental for the truck equipment furnished by Sr.
Idillar for use in conjunction with the VIPA City wide project. Upon roll call vote all
seven Councilmen
present voted in the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried.
Re: Request for Water
Councilman Richards, reporting for the'Committee, stated that he had investigated
the request for extended water service in time Eisenbeis Addition presented at the meeting of
October 17th, and that, in his
opinion, this expenditure was not warranted at this time, wit'
the possible revenue obtainable.
Re: Quilcene lover Dam Area Survey
City Attorney Daly reported that ':r. Paul Hinton had completed a survey of the area
