Recess
At this time (8:05), it was moved by Councilman Marold and seconded by Councilman Hobt
Brown, that the Council now recess for a short period. Motion carried.
Reconvened
The Council reconvened at 9:00 otclock, P.M., and upon roll call officers and members
were noted present as follows: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler; City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk
C. F. Christian xnd Councilmen Dennis Sullivan; Fred G. Lewis; J. F. Idaroldo; C. E. hichard
Robt. 71. Brown, and Tim. Lam mers, Sr.
Fire Alarm Renewal Authorized
It was moved by Councilman Lewis and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the City
Council accept proposal of the Puget Sound Pourer & Light Company for renewal of the fire
alarm system vriring and allow a maximum of expenditure of $450.00 for this work, rather the
$400.00, previously authorized. Motion carried,

Parking Ordinance
An ordinance to regulate parking upon certain streets of the City of Port Townsend,
was presented anr. read in full for the first reading as follows:

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT? OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTOII, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person to stand or park any motor vehicle
continuously at the same place for more than two :-ours on the following described streets
of the City of Port lo',wnsend, that is to say:
On Water Street from Fillmore Street to Monroe Street;
On Taylor Street from Front Street to Washington Street;
On Adams Street from Front Street to Washington Street;
On 7.'ashington Street from Taylor Street to Adams Street;
On Lawrence Street from Polk Street to Taylor Street;
On Tyler Street from Lincoln Street to Clay Street;
covering a period of time from 9:00 otclock in the forenoon to 5:00 o'clock, in the after-
noon on any day of the vreek except Sundays and holidays, PROVIDED, HO7.1EVER, that the pro-
visions of this paraCraph shall not apply to certain zones upon the foregoing described
streets, that may be designated by the City Council.
Section 2. That any person convicted of violating tis ordinance shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and shall be punished therefor by a Sine of not to exceed $10.00, or imprison-
ment in the City Jail for a period of not exceeding ten days, or both such fine and
imprisonment.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader to be in
force and take effect November 15, 1939.

Surfacing Expenditure Ordinance
An ordinance entitled: Ali ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend ratifying and con-
firming disbursements made during the year 1939, from funds in the City Street Fund of the
City of Port Townsend, not provided for in the official budget for said fund for the year,
1939, and ordaining the amount heretofore paid therefrom for new construction in excess of
said 'budget to be an emergent expenditure; was presented at this time and read in full for
the second reading; having been read for the first reading at the last regular session.
It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the
third reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote all six Councilmen present voted in
the affirmative and the motion was declared carried.

tax and if the said company is successful in its application, further and additional burden
will be imposed upon telephone users in the City of Port Townsend, and,

Re: Quilcene River Dam Surv�
City Attorney Daly reported that the buildings located at the intake dam of the City
water line on the Big Quilcene River were erected on property of the Olympic National Forest
without permission from the proper authorities to do so, and stated further that in order
to obtain such permission, it would be necessary that the location be surveyed and suggested
