A preliminary form of a proposed ordinance to regulate parking on certain streets of
this city, as discussed at the last regular session, was read to the Council at this time
for their consideration and recommendations at the next regular meeting.

A resolution relative to discontinuance of certain inactive funds of the City eras
presented and read as follows;

IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port 'T o:nsend that certain funds of
the City, to "Liquor
-writ: Act Enforcement Fund" and "Olympic Gravity Suspense Account Fund
be and the
same are hereby abolished as city funds and the balance in said "Liquor Act
Enforcuirent Fund,

"Current Expense Fund," "Olympic

An ordirance providing for expenditure of certain necessary sums not included in the
budget, visa presented and rend as follows:

to be an emergent expenditure.
l7HEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the official budget for the City Street Fund
of the City of Port Townsend for the year 1939, the amount of money to be received into the
City Treasury of the City of Port Townsend from the State of liashington from gas tar, revenue
could not have been forseen or determined, and the estimate of 9,'6000.00 for 111;ew Constructio
greatly less than thf: sum received from the State of 11ashington during 1939, and,
l7HEREAS, the oiling and hard -surfacing of the streets of said city visa carried on a nd
conducted this year thru aid and assistance )f the County rf Jefferson, and upon a•progrem
designed and directed by the Jefferson County Engin::er, and,
'..FEREAS, in order for the City of Port Townsend to secure the maximum benefits to be
derived therefrom at the minimum expense, it became necessary that a total sum of :j6976.54,
be expended, such sum being a stun by $2976.54 in excess of the budg::t amount, and that such
expenditure constituted an emergency to meet the total contract cost for such new construct-
ion, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLYNS:
Section 1. That the expenditure of said sum of y2976.54 from the City Street Fund of
said city during the year was an emergent and mandatory expenditure, and. that the warrants
heretofore issued by the City Clerk of the City of Po:•t Townsend in said sum of y2976.54,
are hereby ratified and confirmed as emergency warrants.
Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port 'Townsend Lender to be in
force and take effect as provided'by lair.

Section 1. That the following be, and the sa:nc• is hereby, fixed and adopted as the
Official Budget for the Cite of Port 'Townsend, for the year 1940, for taxation purposes,
divided into the total amounts in each of the following classes comprising the whole of said
budget, to -wit:
Salaries and wages �?'20,262.00
Operation and maintenance 10,978.25
;snits' Outlay 8,183.50
Interest and bond redemption 13,061.88
Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port 'Townsend Leader and to
take effect and be in force as provided by law.
