It was moved by Councilman Richards, seconded by Councilman Phillip Brown that the said
requisitions be granted. Upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the
affirmative, and the motion visa declared carried.
UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
Fire Permit For Garbage Dump
It was moved by Councilman Phillip Brown and seconded by Councilman Lewis, that Mr. F.I{
Lammers, contractor for disposal of garbage and rubbish, be instructed to obtain a fire
permit for the purpose of burning off the City dump. Motion carried.
Truck License Protest

communication as follows:

THIS is to certify that we, the undersigned, truck owners & operators in the city limits of
Port 'Torr::send, do hereby authorize A. . Ywarsky to represent us at the City Council con-
cerning unjust legislation in licensing of trucks:
John Thompson, Palace Bakery, Port Townsend Lumber Co., A. C. Kelm, E. S. Hanson, A. M. O'Me
Glendale Dairy, Union Cleaners, Peter Norby, IS. 11. Shaer, Andrew Sorenson, H. E. Gleason,
R.D. Fleming, Norman Bailey, Bill Cables, '.Villson Hdw. Co., Mrs. I.I. White, J.J. Lafferty,
R.E. Ammeter, City Transfer Co., by 'Idm. Nagel.
Mr. Ywarsky spoke briefly upon the matter, stating that in the opinion of those parties
signing the above communication, the ordinance licensing trucks, was an unfair burden upon
those in the trucking business. This matter was referred to the Police End License
Committee for consideration.
Re: Fire Department Drill Team
Councilman Sullivan addressed the Council at this time upon the matter of providing
funds to defray expenses of sending a drill team from the local Volunteer Department to the
convention at the Washington Association of Fire Chiefs at Spokane, and stated that inasmuch
as it was the custom of a great many of the cities to send such teams, he believed that it w
be of benefit to this city to do so.
Lewis Replies
Councilman Lewis stated that while it would undoubtedly be beneficial, there was no
provision made in the budget for the coming year for such an expenditure, and that it vras
his personal opinion that the City at this time, could not afford such an expenditure from
the amounts available.
Recess
A short discussion pro and con insued, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Maroldo
and seconded by Councilman Robt. Brown, that the Council recess for a short period. (9:05).
Reconvened
The Council reconvened at 9:30 o1clock, P.M., and upon roll call, all officers and
members of the Council were noted present.
Drill Teem Expenditure Alloyed
It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Phillip Brown that the
Volunteer Fire Denartment be allowed the expenditure of $100.00, for the purpose of defray-
ing expenses of sending a drill team from the local Department to the Spokane Convention,
aforementioned.
Upon roll call vote, six of the Councilmen present voted in the affirmative. Council-
man Lewis voted "no", and the motion was declared carried.
Re: Fires Outside City
Councilman Roht. Brown asked for an expression of opinion by members of the Council as
to the advisability of responding to calls outside the City limits by the Fire Department.
This was referred to the Fire Committee.
