REQUISITIONS By 'rater Department A requisition by tine dater Department for the water registers for 1940, a total of fourteen books, at an approximate cost of $73.00, was presented and read. It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the said requisition be granted. Motion carried. UiIFI IISHED AND 107 BUSINESS Ile: Survey Monument Councilman hobt. Brown reported that equipment used in preparing streets for surfacing had removed the survey monument which determined the location of property owned by Mr. Cabli but that the office of the County ingineer had agreed to relocate the marker, thereby enabl• ing Mr. Cable to establish the proper line for a fence which he wished to erect upon his property line. Mr. Cable, who was present in the audienc:, was asked if t is arrangement was entirely satisfactory to him, and he assured tine Council that such action was all that he wished. Re: Speeding The matter of excessive speed at which automobiles were being driven upon the State Highway within the City limits, particularly at the point where the road from the Rational Paper Products Co. entered, urns discussed informally, and it was agreed that as soon as it was reasonably possible, appropriate warning and speed limit signs would be erected, and a definite and concerted action, vrith the cooperation of the State Patrol, would be taken to eliminate "-is hazardous co::dition. Lewis Arrives Councilman Lewis arrived during the foregoing discussion, and took his seat in the Council. The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port 'Townsend, Washington, met in regular sessionT20th day of June, 1939, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hal Mayor 11. L. Hirtzler presiding. ROLL CALLS Upon Roll Call, officers and Members answering present were: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler, Cit3 Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen Robt. w. Brown, Yrm. Lanurers, Sr., Donnie Sullivan, and J. F. Maroldo; City Attorney ,P. J. Daly arriving later in the meeting. MINUTES APPROVED It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that the minutes of the previous session be approved as written. Motion carried. BILL$ AND CLAIMS - Daly Arrives City Attorney Daly arrived at this time and took his place in the Council. It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown, and seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that Rule 28, of the Rules of the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, be suspended for this session to allow consideration of claims. Upon roll call vote, all four Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and the motion was declared carried. The claims of General Construction Company for surfacing supplies delivered, and of J.R. Cameron & Sons for rental of equipment, upon the City Street Fund, were presented and read. It visa moved by Councilman Lammers, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the said claims be allowed and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon tile proper fund in payment thereof. Upon roll call vote, all four Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and the motion visa declared carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS 1 Prater Supt. , Tile report of the Water Supt. showing the flow of water through the main line meters, for the week ending June 19th, 1939, was read and ordered filed. The report of the Prater Supt. for the month of May, 1939, Liss read and ordered referred to the 'crater Committee. City Treasurer The report of the City Treasurer for the month of May, 1939, vras presented and read and ordered referred to the Finance Coirnmittee. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The Police and License Committee to whom vras referred the matter of collection of commercial truck licenses reported that the police mould start immediately in an attempt to " bring about payment of delinquent licenses. BUILDING PER:.:ITS Requests for permits to build were presented and read as follows: From Tony DeLeo,to-writ: Port Townsend, Vlashinngton June 20, 1939. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to remodel the interior of my building on Water Street, adjoining the Rendezvous Tavern, formerly used as a storage warehouse for lumber.
