A request from Mr. Clark Aldrich for permisdon to construct automobile driveways to
form approaches to the service station being erected by him at the corner of Taylor and
Lawrence Streets visa read; and upon motion of Councilman Phillip Brown, seconded by Council-
man Maroldo, duly carried, said permission was granted.

wide meeting at Spokane, was read and ordered filed.

City Attorney Daly reported that a piece of rvoperty situated at the location which
could be part of Polk Street, were it opened between Blaine and Van fleas Streets, had been
purchased by L:r. Tobin, thereby eliminating the possibility of it's being obtained by the
City for possible future street purposes, other than by purchase.
Re: Civil Ser•:ice Corunissim Meeting
It was ::roved by Councilman Robt. Bro:•;n, and seconded by Councilman Maroldo that the
City Clerk be instructed to call a meeting of the Civil Service Conunissions, for the pur-
pose of organization, before the date of the next Council meeting.
Re: Fire School Expense
The City Clerk reported the verbal request of Fire Chief J. JLafferty for consider-
ation by the Council of the probability of making available approximately $100.00 to help
defray the expense of sending a drill team to the convention of the Association of Fire
Chiefs. The matter was referred to the Fire and Light Committee for consideration and
report at the next mceting.
Councilman Larr.ers asked that the departmental heads be requested to attend Council
meetings.
Re: Garbage Collection
Councilman Lewis stated that at such times as he had occasion to notice the truck used
for the collection of garbage, the refuse therecn was not covered by canvas as required by
agreement with the contractor, Mr. F. H. Lammers.
In reply, Councilman Robt. Brown stated that he had talked with 1!p. Lammers about this
neglect and ':hat he believed that in the -ature, this provision would be complied with.
Councilman Richards asked that the members of the Council give some study to the
possibility of the City handling the removal of garbage as a revenue utility, upon the
expiration of the present contract.
