Power & Light Company be authorized to rebuild the alarm system fully, the same to be paid b,
an installmont of $150.00, as authorized in the 1939 budget, the balance of $250.00, to be
paid January lst, 1949, without interest charges.
Upon roll call vote all six Councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and the motion
was deol^red carried.
Inhalator Demonstration
A representative of the Sanderson Safety Supply Company having expressed the wish to
demonstrate the H-H inhalator to the Council, and being present in the Council rooms, Mayer
Hirtzler invited the demonstration at this time. The necessary equipment for this type of
work which is contained in a single case, wns laid out and explained by the demonstrator
and tried by various members of the Council. Informal discussion followed with all question
of interested parties being answered to complete satisfaction. Inasmuch as there were no
City funds immediately available and as it was understood that the Jefferson Comity Corunissi
contemplated the pu_•chase of such equipment, no definite action was taken.
Badges of Office Presented
City Attorney Daly took this occasion to address those nresent in the Council rooms
and with a few well chosen remarks made the presentation to the Ma,, or and to Councilman
Robt. Brown, Chairman of the Street Committee, of two minature badges of their respective po
itions.
ADJOURNMENT
No further business appearing to the Council at this time for consideration, it visa
moved by Councilman 'aroldo and seconded by Councilman Robt, Brown that the meeet-in�—g adjourn.

18th day of April, 1939, at 7:30 oIclock, P.la. , in the Council Chambers of the City Hall,

A bulletin from the Association of Washington Cities relative to the coming convention
at Spokane was read and ordered filed for possible future reference.
REQUISITIONS
A requisition for supplies, for twenty-five cords of wood for the City Hall visa fi csent
and read.
It was moved by Councilman Richards and seconded by Councilman Lanuners that the requisi
tlon be granted and the City Clerk be ins!:ructed to publish a call for bids fox, 25 cords of
sound, old growth wood, out in 12 inch lengths. Said wood to be delivered five cords upon
acceptance of bid, and.the balance as requested; and to be subject to approval by the
custodian of the building.
Upon Roll Call Vote all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and the motion)
was declared carried.
UNFINISHED AND NEIW BU311JESS
Mrs, being present in the Council Room, the Mayor asked if there were not
some matter which she wished to bring before the Council. She arose and stated that the
City in protecting the street in front of her place from drainage from the "Hilsinger Place",
had established an open ditch along the said street and that in consequence the drainage
water now collected there in front of her place causing a disagreeable condition.
After short discussion, Councilman Robt. Brown stated that he had understood that the
ditch in question visa to be lined and covered, and that he would see that definite action to
eliminate the open ditch '.would be taken the following morning.
Councilman Richards arose and stated that he had been inforried that for a small
additional mount of premium, the insurance on the eater Department truck could be improved
by adding a acomprehensive clause; which would take care of several small items such as
breakage of
glass, etc., not covered by the present policy, and asked for the opinion of the
Council in the matter.
It visa moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Liaroldo that the
I nsurance policies on the Street Department equipment, which expired during the present month
e renewed. Motion carried.
It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilnan Maroldo that the Stree
,omndttee be empowered to instruct the various agents to renew the existing policies so as to
ssure coverage of all equipment at all times. Motion declared carried.
It was moved by Councilman Lewis and seconded by Councilman Bort. Brown that the com-
rehensive clause mentioned by Councilman Richards be obtained fox, the 'Water Department truck
Potion declared carried.
Councilman Lewis stated that there was money in the budget sufficient for an additional
;treat light or two and inasmuch as there was at present no light in the inu:;ediate vicinity
:e would move that: light be placed at the intersection of Roosevelt and Quincy Streets. This
lotion was seconded by Councilman Richards and upon voice vote was declared carried.
Councilman Richards asked that the Coimnittee on Fire and Light, consider an additional
treat light for the intersection of 'Taft and I.Ior-roe Streets, and report on name at tho.next
egular meeting.
Councilman hlch.ards spoke of the danger existing at certain intersections due to growth
of brush on adjoining property and asked what could be done to eliminate such conditions. h
reply Councilman Robt. groan stated that in some of the places mentioned improvements could
be made at such a time as further 'W.P.A. labor was available for slashing.
