Councilman Lewis presented a proposal by the Puget Sound Power & Light Company, to re- build the fire alarm system, as follows: rx r,a ak Bremerton, Plashington 'March 31, 1939 City of Port Townsend Port lovrnsend, Washington >'fJ4yJ e Attention: Mr. William J. Boggs, City Engineer, `t Gentlemen: rr, day We recently inspected your fire alarm circuit, and now we have the following informatior + - and recommendations for our consideration: Y J,S n ` t? There is about 15,800 feet of fire alarm circuit in the City of Port Townsend which is in very poor condition. This circuit is generally carried on a pole -top bracket fastened to the Puget Sound Pourer & Light Company poles, This places the circuit ov er and above 2400- . ," C olt primary circuits. The circuit is a signlc #10 iron weatherproof wire, and the iron is Tr`.t adly rusted in most places which makes a very unsafe condition because of frequent break n the wire, and it is very unsatisfactory as far a :; operating the signal circuits is con- "Eq , D it is proposed to string new vrire which the city now has aryl romovo the old vrire. The new circuit is to be strung on our secondary arms wherever possible and install new arms °giro where necessary. The bad portion of th.. system can be replaced for about $400, not includir. the wire furnished by the City. " We understand the City has about $150 in the 1939 budget which could be used to improve the system. This fund would rehabilitate about 5,000 feet of circuit, and the worst places would be chosen, or the complete job could be done at this time in the interest of safety u and continuous availability of the alarm circuit, providing some s atisfactory arrangement can be made with regard to the balance of the cost of making the improvement over the -amount yl budgeted.
