Gentlemen: The following materials and/or supplies are required for the use of the
Street Department:

It was moved by Councilman Hobert Brown and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the
requisitions for the Street Department and City Clerkws office be granted. Motion carried.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
Ordinances and resolutions were presented, read, and disposed of as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COU14CIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOW11SEND:
That the City Treasurer, in writing, designate and file with the Clerk of this Council,
the name of the bank within the City of Port Townsend wherein the funds of said city are de-
posited by said Treasurer.
Adopted by the City Council this 7th day of February, 1939.

It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the said
resolution be adopted. Motion carried.
RES0LU'TI0I1. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend.
That all the provisions of Chapter 39 of the Session Lairs of the State of Washington fo
1935, in so far as they pertain to the City of Port T'ownsond, be and the same are hereby
adopted;
Tlnut in conP licanec with said Chapter 39 there be and is hereby created in the treasury
of the City of Port 'Tocrnsend a fund to be known as the "Firemen's Relief and Pension Fund."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of the "Firemen's Relief and Pension
Fund" shall consist of the Mayor of the Cit^ of Port Townsend, City Cleric of the City of
Port Cormsend, the three members of the Fire and Light Committee of the City Council of the
Cityof Port Townsend; the Chief of the r'ire Department of the City of Port Townsend, and
the two regularly employed firemen of the City of Port Townsend.
ADOPTED by the City Council February 7th, 1939.

It was moved by Councilman Robert Brown and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the
said resolution be adopted, and upon roll call voteall seven councilmen voted in the affirma
tive, and the motion visa declared carried.
Recess
At this time - 8:15 P-1,%, it was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Council
man Lammers that the Council recess for a short period of time.
Reconvened
The Council reconvened at 9:15, P.M., and upon roll call, the following officers and
members were noted present: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler, City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C.F.
Christian, and Councilmen Phillip E. Brown, J. F. Maroldo, Clarence E. Richards, Robt. V.I.
Brown, William Lammers, Sr., Dennis Sullivan, and Fred G. Lewis.
Ordinance No. 1101
AN ORDINANCE creating and establishing a Civil Service Commission for the Fire Department of
the City of Port Townsend, and adopting Chapter 31 of the Session. Laws of the
Mate of Washington for 1935, and Chapter 59 of the Session Lairs of the State o
Washington for 1937.
THE CITY COUNCIL CIF THE CITY OF PORT TO"711SElvD DO ORDAIll AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the civil service system as set forth in Chapter 31 of the Session Lam
of the State of 'Nashington for 1935, and Chapter 59 of the Session Laws of the State of Wash
ington for 1937, be and the same are hereby adopted by the City of Port Townsend, and all
provisions thereof are hereby made a part of this Ordinance as fully as if incorporated here
Section 2. That there is hereby created pursuant to said Chapter 31 of the Session Lay;
.of the State of Washington for 1935, and Chapter 59 of the Session Laws of the State of Wash
inRton for 1937, a Civil S-:rvice Commission for the Fire Department of the City of Pom•t
townsend, which commission shall be composed of three (3) members and appointed by the Mayor
of the City of Port 'To-an.0end. The members of said commission shall hold office as provided

in Chapter 31 of the Session Laws of the State of Washington for 1935, and Chapter 59 of the
Session Lams of the State of Washington for 1937, and shall have and exercise all powers and
duties as prescribed thereby.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port 'Townsend Leader, to take
effect and be in force as provided by law.
Passed by the City Council February 7, 1939.
Approved by the Mayor February 7, 1939.

It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Robt. Brown that the first
reading be considered the second,and the third reading be by title only, and upon roll call
vote all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried.
Third Reading and Passage
The ordinance visa read by title only for the third reading, whereupon it was moved by
Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the ordinance do now pass.
Upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and the motion
was declared carried.

of the City of Port Townsend, and adopting Chapter 13 of the Session Laws of thi
State of Washington for 1937.
THE CITY COU11CIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TO'.?11SE JD DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Civil service system set forth in Chapter 13 of the Session Laws o:
the State of Washington for 1937 be and the same is hereby adopted by the City of Port 'Towns
,and all of the details and provisions of said Chapter 13 are hereby made a part of this ord-
inance as fully as if incorporated herein.
Section 2. What there is hereby created pursuant to said Chapter 13 a civil Service
omnnission for the Police Department of the Citr of Port 'Townsend, which commission shall be
omposed of threo (3) members and appointed by the I.layor of the City of Port Townsend. The
embers of such commission shall hold office as provided in said Chapter 13, and shall have

Water Ordinance Proposed
It was moved by Councilman Richards and seconded by Councilr.:an Robt. Brown, that the
City Attorney, •aith the assistance of the Water Superintendant and Water Committee of the
Council, be instructed to draw up a complete new ':rater ordinance in keeping with the best
interests of the City. Motion carried.

DeMolay to Run City
It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that in
accordance with past custom, the members of the Order of DcMolay should fill the offices of
the City Administration for a day, as requested.
