Councilman ammeter spoke at this timo of the problem confronting the City in the matter of female dogs in bent running at large on the City Streets; and after determining from the City Attorney that there was a definite provision made in the ordinances of the j City,.of Port Townsend to prohibit the same, suggested that the city Clerk bring this to the attention of the general public through the local nowspupor, if podsible. i i UNIIINISHED AND IIE71 BUSINESS. �i Under this order of business was presented the following communication, to-wiy: January 3, 1939. i t ■ Honorable l,,ayor Iirtzler, The name of Mrs. Todd Marriott is presented for reappointment on the Library Board. Yours respectfully, Fannie G. Brown Chairman of Library Board. It ups moved by Councilman Lewis and seconded by Councilman Brown that the Council confirm the said appointment. Motion declared carried. Call for gasoline bids. It 'sas moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Brown that the City Cleric be instructed to publish a call for bids to furnish the City of Port Tovmsend with gasoline for the ensuing year, 1939; said bids to be received at the office of the Cmty Cleric not later than 5 otclock p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 1939. Call for garbage bids. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Brown that the City Clerk be instructed to publish a call for bids for the removal of garbage for the ensuing; year, 1939, or for a period of two or three years; said bids to be received at the office of the City Clerk not later than 5 O'clock. p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 1939. Motion carried. Councilman Richards suggested thtt the Street Committee determine the advisibiiity of installirg a stopsign at the intersection of Tyler and Roosevelt Streets as Vlore were e number of small children in the neighborhood and drivers of cars seemed to have a tendency to enter this intersecti6n at too high speed for proper safety. It .ras moved by Councilman Ammeter and seconded by Councilman Broom that the City funds previously allocated for reconstruction of the Irondale-Iladlock pipe line be diverted from the P. 71. A. project, ::hick appears to be very improbable, to be available for use in financing a '! P.A. project vrhich is now being drawn up for the same purpose. Upon roll call vote, ail seven councilmen voted in the affirmative and the motion visa declared carried. Councilman Suiliven reported that Mr. Couture wished permission to remove some of the old water pipe along the Street kzo::n as Klasell Hill to use it for drainage purposes on and near his property. This •was referred to the Plater Com,.ittee. Councilman Sullivan asked as to the possibilities of obtaining sewage disposal systems in some of the more thickly populated outlying districts of the City; and after some informs discussion of what might be possible Nays and means it was decided to defer any definite act until such tine as more definite information eras available. Liayor. . o�?r MINUTES Or REGULAh 4 i 477 PORT TOWNSEND, PlASIiIIMON, FEBRUARY 7, 1939 The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this 7th day of February, 1939, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor Hirtzler presiding. ROLI. CALL Upon Roll Call, the following officers and members answered present: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler, City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen J.F. Maroldo, Clarence E. Richards, Robt. Y!. Brown, William Lammers, Sr., and Dennis Sullivan; Councilman Fred G. Lewis arriving later in the session. SECOND WARD COUNCILMAN APPOINTED At this time it visa moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Maroldo, that Phillip E. Brovrn be appointed to fill the position of Councilman from the Second Ward made vacant by the resignation of R. E. Ammeter. Roll Call Upon roll call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and the motion was declared carried. MINUTES APPROVED It was moved by Councilman Robt. Brown and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the minutes of the previous session be approved as written. Motion carried.
