PORT TOI�.NSEND, WASHINGTON, JANUARY,17, 1939. 1 The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this 17#h day of January, 1939, at 7:30 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor Hirtzler presiding. ROLL CALL. Upon Roll Call, Officers and Members answering present were ac follows: Mayor Ii. L. Hirtzler, City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C♦ F. Christian; and Councilmen Fred G. Lewi , R. E. Ammeter, J. F. ilsroldo, Clarence E. Richards, Robt. W. Brown, wm. Lammers Sr.; and Councilman Dennis Sullivan arrived after Roll Call. READING OF MINUTES. The minutes of the previous session were read and approved as read. Sullivan arrives. Councilman Sullivan. arrived during the reading of the minuted and took his seat in the Council. BILLS AND CLAIMS. Approved bills. Bills not heretofore presented for payment for the year 1938, as audited and recommends( for payment by the finance committee, wore presented as follows: Upon the Current Expense Fund, to -wit: F. J. Delaney Salary, health Officer 75,00 Alpha Baker Cash advanced 2.25 Trick & Murray Supplies, Trees. office 2.11 Sanderson Safety Supply Co. First Aid Kit, Fire "apt. 25.00 J. With ilindshield for Fire Truck 62.50 P.T. Volunteer Fire Dept. Services at fires 24.00 r Total ........... 190.86 Upon the Park Fund, to -wit: Building Supply Co. Lumber and Cement N 64.82 It was moved by Councilman Lewis and seconded by Councilman Ammeter that the said cla be allowed and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be auth6rized to issue warrants upon the proper funds in payment thereof. Upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion r:as declared carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. The report of the 71'ater Superintendent for the month of December 1938, was presented a read and ordered referred to the "rater Committee. The report of the 'dater Supt. showing the flow of water through the main line meters f the week ending January 16th, 1939, visa presented and read and ordered filed. BUILDING PERL:ITS. Applications for building permits were presented and read as follows: From 1f. B. Canfield, to -wit: 'Port Townsend, Washington, January 4, 1939. To the Honorable Liayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to erect a frame garage, approximately 121 x 181, on my property situate Lot 7, Block 1, H. L. Tibaals Jr. 2nd Addition. Cost of materials will be approximately Thirty Five Dollars (N35.00). Respectfully submitted, ]9. B. Camfield. From A. H. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, llashington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to raze the old barn on my property located Lot 3, Bloc]; 12, Hastings 3rd Addition; and to erect a leanto addition to my garage located on Lot 5 of the same block, using some of the lumber from the building to be wrecked. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Per:ission is requested to wreck the old building located on the southwest corner of the intersecti6n of Tyler and F Streets. Premises will be properly cleaned up so as not to leave an eyesore. Respectfully submitted, J. H. Cameron Upon motion of Councilman Lammers seconded by Councilman Ammeter it was voted to grant the foreg6ing permits. A request for a building permit as follows was referred to the Building Committee. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Ylashington, January 3, 1939. Port Townsend, 'Nashington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to place additional reinforcing support under the Southwest corner of the first floor of the DeVillo Hotel Building; to lay a concrete slab approximately 151 x 151, upon.the present floor at this point; to install laundry tubs and machinery; and to install a steam boiler and necessary fittings for laundry purposes. '�I• Melchior, local manager for the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., reques�ring an extension of time for making application for an occupation license was read; and the City Clerk stated that he had granted the said request by virtue of the - authority granted in the ordinance covering the same. Young A➢:L2-ER RESIGNS. A written resignation by Councilman Ammeter was tendered and read to the Council at. this time as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, January 17, 1939. Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Port 'Townsend Gentlemen: My election to the office of County Commissioner, 1st District Jefferson County, compels me to tender my resignation as Councilman 2nd hard. It oS with genuine regret that I must take this step, as my association with your body and the elective officers of the City of Port Townsend has been most cordial. Believe me, that I will do my utmost to cement a closer contact between the country and city, and devote my energies, governmentally speaking, so that the majority will receive a maximum amount of benefit with a minimtm of expenditure. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Maroldo that Councilman Ammeter's resignation be accepted to take effect as of the adjournment of this meeting. Upon roll call vote all councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. REQUISITIONS. A requisition from the City Treasurers office, requested the following items: 1 Book case for -.'later Receipt Books 1 Gate to close opening between end of counter and :wall. This requisition was referred to the Finance Committee.
