Taht this ordinance be published onto in the Port Townsend Leader, and to take effect and be in force as provided by lair. Passed by the City Council October 4, 1938. AN ORDINANCE, making and fixing the tax levy for the City of Port Townsend, Wash- ington, for taxes for the year 1939. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE, CITY OF PORT TO'„IISEND, 'JY:SIIINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLO„S: Section 1. That there is hereby levied upon all taxable property in the City of Port Townsend, •ri'ashington, the following sums of money and rates of tax levy for the different purposes herein designated for the year 1939, and the rate of taxation upon the dollar of assessed valuation of said City for such purpose is as follows: First: For the payment of current expenses and for the Current Expense Fund, the sum of 411,324.41, and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 12.50 mills on the dollar. Second: For the purpose of maintaining a public library, and for the Library Fun , the sum of $1811.91, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at 2.00 mills on the dollar. Third: For the purpose of maintaining a public park, and for the Park Fund, the sum of ;'1132.44, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fired at 1.25 mills on the dollar. Fourth: For the maintenance and improvement of the public streets of the city, and for the City Street Fund, the sum of $3850.32, and the rate of tax levy for said purpos is hereby fired at 4.25 mills on the dollar. Fifth: For the oa:ment of interest on bonds and for bond redemption 1911 Refund Bonds end Interest 'und, the sum of $4982.74, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at 5.50 mills on the dollar. Sixth: For the payment of interest on bonds and bond redemption, General Indebt- edness 1931 "'later Bond and Interest Fund, the sum of $3170.83, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at 3.50 mills on the dollar. Seventh: For the payment of indebtedness of the City of Port Townsend known as the 21ndebtednesc Fund", the sum of $5435.71, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fired at 6.00 mills on the dollar. Section 2. That the Mayor and City Clerl. of said city are hereby authorized and directed to certify to the County Assessor and to the County Auditor of Jefferson County, 7;ashington, the goregoing tar, levy of said city. Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsond Leader, to take effect and be in force as provided by law. Passed by the City Council October 4, 1938. Upon roll call vote all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion visa declared carried. UNFINISHED MID N&a BUSINESS. Morgan Iiill water pressure. Councilman Ammeter arose and stated that many of the homes on Morgan Hill were w:6thout adequate water pressure, and added that in his opinion the situation could be improved by putting in some stubs. The matter visa referred to the 'llator Supt, and the ;:rater Committee for investigati and renort. Resolution of Condolence. It eras moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Brown that the City Attorney be instructod to dray up a Resolution of Condolence on the death of the City Clerk, C. F. Christian. Motion visa declared carried. Sather arrives. Council. Councilman Sather arrived at this time and took his seat in the Daly reads bulletin. At this time City Attorney Daly read parts of a bulletin issued by the Association of ;lashington Cities, suggesting a resolution with a questionaire attached to be enacted by the cities and sent to the various candidates for State and Federal Office; relative to their feeling toward the aims of the Association and the needs of the Cities. It visa moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said resolution be adopted and that the ISayor, City Attorney, and City Clerk mail copies to the aforementioned candidates. Upon roll call vote all seven councilmen voted in the: affirmative and motion was declared carried. ADJOURNMENT. No further business appearing for consideration, it was moved by Councilman Lafferty, and seconded by Councilman Naughton that the Council do now adjourn. Motion declared carried. Attest: City Clerk.
