To the Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Port Townsend, 'iashington.
Gentlemen: -
Permission is requested to demolish the frame building at 801 Washington St.,
(sw corner of 1Vashington and Adams Streets) and to remove the lumber and material, and burn
such debris as is not worth salvaging. All debris will be disposed of in accordance with
city ordinance. Permission is also requested to block off the sidewalk area adjacent to
the building, during razing of the building.

mission be granted; a deposit ofg10.00 to be made to insure removal of all debris.

ORDINANCES AND KESOLUTI07 S.
Traffic Ordinance.
The proposed traffic ordinance, in its condensed form, having foz-merly been read
in full for the first reading, vras nevi taken up and read in full for the seconded reading,
the title of the ordinance being as follows: "An Ordinance relating to vehicles and the use
and operation thereof on the public streets, alleys and ways of the City of Port Townsend;
prescribing rules of the road for vehicles operating upon the same; providing for conduct
in the event of vehicle accidents; providing procedure for enforcement of the provisions of
this ordinance; providing for certain records and reports; prescribing the powers and duties
of peace officers within the City of Port Tornsend relative to the enforcement of this ordi-
nance; providing for the distribution of fines collected for violation of any of the provi-
sions of this ordinance; defining offenses and fixing penalties, and repealing all ordinance
or parts of ordinances of the City of Port 'iaunsend in conflict herewith."
3rd 'leading by Title:
It visa moved by Councilman iaughton and seconded by Councilman
Ar-moter that the 3rd reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen
present voted in the affirmative and motion vras declared carried.
3rd reading and passage.
The Cleric then read the said ordinance by title only for the
third reading whereupon it was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Brown
that said ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen present voted
in the affirmative and motion vras declared carried.

The aforesaid ordinance is recorded in full on Page 120 et. seq., of Volume 2, of
Ordinance Records of the City of Port 'Townsend and is so referred to and made a part of thes
minutes with the same force and effect as though set out here in full.
"Green River" Peddlers Ordinance:
The ordinance governing solicitors, peddlers, etc., (generally referred to as the
"Green !liver" ordinance), was now taken up and ;vas read in full for the second reading.
3rd Reading.
It visa moved by Councilman Ammeter and seconded by Councilman Naughton,
that the third reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen present
voted in the affirmative and motion raas declared carried.
City Attorney Daly then stated that inquiry had been made as to whether or no, an excep
tion would be made in the case of local residents who are ongaged in house to house solicita
tion and he brought the matter up to secure an expression from the council for the guidance
of the administrative officers. Jo comment was made however.
!Lotion to pass: It was t_en :roved by Councilman Ammeter that said ordinance do now
pass. There being no second:to the motion, the matter automatically goes over to a subse-
quent meeting of the Council.

The City Cleric mentioned the other two ordinances now
before the Council but no action vras proposed.
UNFINISHED AND NL17 BUSINESS.
Councilman DeLoo brought up the matter of erecting more traffic signs along the state
Highway and visa advised by the Mayor that signs for the railroad crossings had been ordered
for over a month but, owing to a change in the design, the factory visa obliged to make new
dies and had not been able to go into production yet.
Yonroe Street "Jogs.
Councilman Lewis brought up the matter of the traffic hazard caused by the offset
or "jog" in Monroe Street at Roosevelt Street. He stated that, according to his recollec
tion, property had been purchased from adjacent owners to widen and improve the street at
this point but that the work could not be satisfactorily done until an electric light pole,
situated at this intersection, visa moved to a new location.
The matter was referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report.

The City Cleric stated that the following circular letters had been received since the
last session, to -writ:

A Washington Vews Letter, from the Imerican lunicipal Associ
tion, which comes as a service of the Association of Washington Cities.
Associn Information Bulletin.
Information Bulletin No. 37, from the Association of
Washington Cities, on current municipal problems.
Initiative Circular Letter.
A circular letter transmitting a number of copies of the proposed gasoline tax
initiative measure sponsored by the Association, and urging that every person interested
in the financial problems of the cities of the State, work for the introduction and adopts
of the said initiative.
