Requisitions for supplies were presented, read, and disposed of as follows:
For the Water Department, to -wit:
15 gals. motor oil; small quantities misel. office supplies.
For the Police Department, to -wit:
300 Traffic Violation Notices.
For the Treasurer's Office, to -wit:
Rubber, dated Receipt Stamp; 2 Bx Envelopes; Postage Stamps, $3.00
For The Clerk's Office, to -writ:
Clean and Adjust Numbering Machine; Postage Stamps and Stamped Envelopes;
50 copies of "Laadorss with Annual Report; 50 stamped envl. for mailing reports;
Record book for record of Licenses, Leases, etc.
Memo. Book for Annual Report records.
For the Fire Department, to -writ:
1 cylinder head, with gaskets, for Mack fire engine ($30.15)
For City Street Dept., to -wit:
500 ft., 611 and S" concrete culvert pipe.
It was moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Sather that the said requi-
sitions be granted. ISotion declared carried.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS.
Allocating 74oneys for Street Fund.
A Resolution to re -allocate certain cash receipts,
was presented and read, as follows:
RESOLUTION.
77hereas, the allocation due the City of Port Townsend under the provisions of Chapter
62 of the Laws of Washington Extraordinary Session, 1933, and Acts amendatory thereto, for
the months of October, November and December, 1937, were nor received by the City Treasurer
until January loth, 1938, and no disposition has been heretofore made thereof,
Be It Therefore Resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, that the sum
received January loth, to -wit: the sum of $1,284.87, be and the saute is hereby appropriated
to the funds of the City of Port Townsend as follows:
To the CITY STREET FUND the sum of .. ................ $ 900.00
To the CURRENT ESB NSE FUND the sum of ................ 384.87
Be It Further Resolved that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the City Treas-
urer of the City of Port Townsend in order that appropriate entries be made upon the books
of her office.
It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Brown that the said res-
olution be adopted. Upon roll call vote, all four councilmen present voted in the affirm-
ative and motion visa declared carried. The resolution was then approved and signed by
the Mayor
Traffic Ordinance.
The proposed traffic ordinance coming up for consideration, City
Attorney Laly addressed the council to the effect that he had tallied with Councilmen Sather
Ammeter, Lewis, Lafferty and Brown and that he believes that certain portiohs of the ordi-
nance can be re -written to meet certain objections to the original copy and that the text
can be shortened by reference to the Otate code, and therefore, that the second, -reading be
deferred to a future session.
Deferred:
It was then moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Lafferty
that the second reading b e deferred to the next regular seasioh..and motion was declared
carried.
Tani License Ordinance Deferred:
In the matter of the amendment to the Vehicle License Ordinance, relating to "For
Hire Cars," it was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Lafferty, that the
proposed ordinance lay on the table until the next regular session. Motion declared carri

"Civil Services' Ordinance.
Pursuant be instructions, City Attorney Daly prepared and submitted a proposed

Civil Service ordinance, transmitting the same with the following letter:
Port Townsend, Washington, January 18, 1938.
Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Port Townsend,
Port Townsend, Washington.
Gentlemen:
Upon motion made and passed in the last regular meeting of the City Council, I
herewith transmit a draft of a proposed city ordinance empowering the Mayor to create a
Civil Service Commission for the Fire Department of the City of Port Townsend.
k' This ordinance is modeled from the suggested form adopted by the Association of

the current year, were now opened and read, the prices submitted being as follows:

It was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Brown that the L
Council recess for five minutes. Motion declared carried and recess taken.

Council re -convened at 8:50 o'clock p.m., and upon roll call
the following answered present: Mayor H. L. Hirtzler, City Attorney 18. J. Daly, City Clerk
` Y C. F. Christian, and Councilmen Peter Naughton, Robert W. Brown, W. S. Lafferty and Paul H.
Sather.
BIDS REJECTED, NEW BIDS CALLED.
In the matter of bids to.•supply :gasoline, it was mooed by Councilman Lafferty and
w a` seconded by Councilman Brown that all bids be rejected at this time and that the City Clerk
be instructed to call for new proposals, the new proposals to be opened at the regular ses-
sion of the Council on February lst. Motion declared carried.

i GARBAGE PROPOSALS.
v r Pursuant be call for bids to handle garbage, F. H. Lammers submitted
the following proposal, the only one submitted, as follows, to -wit:

It was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the bid of
P. H. Lammers be accented, subject to signing contract and furnishing bond. Upon Roll Call
