From City Clerk, Re: Status of Street Funds: The City Clerk presented and read a communication, relative to statue of funds in the City Street Fund and the Budget, as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, October 5, 1937 The Honorable Mayors. nd City Council, City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: I beg to inform you that all revenues allocated to, and appropriated for, the City Street Fund Budget for the year 1937, have been, other than for construction work, fully used and exhausted, and there are now no funds available for any purpose except for expenditure upon construction projects duly approved by the State Highway Department. Since the State Law makes the City Clerk primarily respeonsible for all warrants drawn, I cannot, for the remiifider of the current year, draw warrants upon the City Btreet Fund, unless and until, some one in authority will make affidavit that claims for services and supplies have been expended upon and are chargeable to an approved project of the said fund. Further, that should any of said claims be rejected, I hereby disclaim any and al financial responsibility in the matter. Should the City Council provide revenues from other sources and duly appropriate the same for the use of the Street Bepartment, the above statement will not, of course, apply to such funds. Y ITF tY W , A resolution relative to deposit interest, prepared by the City Attorney and sign 1 s r ad by the City Finance Committee, was submitted and read, an follows: R E S O L U T I O N r i r " WHEREAS, the City Finance Committee of the City of Port Townsend has heretofore enters into ¢ contract with the First American National Band of Port Townsend, Port Tovnsend, We jt ington, for the payment of interest upon the public funds of said City deposited in said x bank, and, WHEREAS, the Federal Banking Act of 1935, has nullified all such agreements by prohib- a'. O iting any bank that is a'mameber of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, from paying wr interest on demand public funds on and after August 23, 1937, it is therefore, %r t' RESOLVED, that the agreement heretofore made between the City Finance Committee of the City of Port Townsend and the First American National Bank of Port Townsend, for the pay- ment of interest on demand city funds is hereby rescinded and that no interest will accrue to the City of Port 'Townsend from and after August 23, 1937. AN ORDINANCE fixing and adopting a budget for the Water Department for the City of - Port Townsend, for the year 1938. k THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT 'TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Ly Section 1.
