Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this
the City Hall,
3rd day of August, 1937, at 7:30 o'clock
p.m., in the Council Chambers of

It visa moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Brown that the said
claims be allowed and that the I.:ayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon
the proper funds in payment of same. Upon Roll Call vote, all five councilmen present
voted in the af_irmative and motion was declared carried.

Cor„munication from the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce, relative to proposed
special election, was presented and read, as follows:

Honorable Mayor and City Council,

Port Townsend, PJashington.
Gentlemen:
There seems to be considerable apprehension manifested throughout the corn:amity
as to the action you intend to take regarding the calling of a special election to provide
funds for the purpose of maintaining the park, library and road program at their usual stan-
dard of efficiency.
We would like to know what action you expect to take, if any, upon this important sub-
ject. We also wish to assure you that vie stand ready to assist in any such election, at whi
h
the people can express their wishes in reference to these questions. For several years the
e
special elections have been held, and vie have always given our whole -hearted assistance in
getting out a representative vote. ',Je stand ready to do the same thing this year.
'^a at this time extend a heraty invitation to the Honorable Yayor and members of the
City Council to attend the meeting of the Chamber Tednesday, August 4. at which tire a frien

ly round -table discussion could be had if thought necessary* and advisable.
