ment for street purposes, as follows:
Port Townsend, 7lashington, July 20, 1937.
Honorable 1Sayor and City Council,
City of Port Townsend,
Port Townsend, 71ashington.
Gentlemen: -
Several meetings ago the undersigned was authorized to make up a form of easement
for the signature of one Celestine Loutre in order that the City of Port Townsend might ac-
quire certain property in John Bartlettts First Addition to the City of Port Townsend for
Street Purposes, and to pay her ;)15.00 therefor. In accordance with the instructions of
the Council i proceeded nlorrr these lines until I met with legal difficulties when I x•ecalle
all matters pertaining thereto.
After conversation with your Mr. Christian and Mr. C. L. Peach, local title ab-
stracter, and from an examination of the various plats on file, I find that if the Council
wishes to acquire by deed or easement rights -of -way in the vicinity of the property in ques-
tion it will be necessary that at least the northerly half of Lot 17 of John Bartlettts lst
Addition to the City of Port Townsend be acquired, and a goodly portion of Lot 16.
For the benefit of the Council I am attaching to this communication a sketch of'
map of the property involved and from an examination thereof the necessity of acquiring ad-
ditional property will appear patent.
In view of this letter I now await further advice in the premises.
Very truly yours, :7. J. Daly.
P.S. A. Benedetto is willing to deed the north-easterly 30 ft of Lot 5 in Block 1 of
Bartlettts Addition, but without Lots 16 and 17, the city has nothing.
This communication and the matter pertaining thereto, was referred to the Street Com-
mittee.
