Minutes of Regular Session of
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
H. E. Gleason Lease.
Councilmen Lafferty and Brown, of the Street Committee, to whom visa referred the
application of H. E. Gleason to lease certain parts of Foster and Clallam Streets, reported
favorably and it was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Brown that the
said streets be leased to the applicant at a rental of $2.00 per year. Motion declared
carried.
BUILDING PERMITS.
Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of, as follows:

Permission is requested to build an addition to my dwelling house situate on Block

Granted: It was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Brown that the
said permits be granted. Motion declared carried.

Port Townsend, Washington.
Gentlemen: -
Permission is hereby requested to erect at the corner of Quincy and Water Stree
in the City of Port Townsend a modern gasoline filling station in accordance with the plans
and specifications as evidenced in the attached print. The buildings are to be either of
glass and steel (no galvanized iron) or glass and concrete, dependent upon price.
Permission is also requested to sink necessary gasoline storage tanks for the same
All work will be carried on and conducted in conformity with existing ordinances
and subject to your inspection.
Estimated cost - $3500.00.

It was moved by Councilman Lewis and seconded by Councilman Brown that the said permit
be granted.
Laid on Table: After some discussion it appeared that the council was not sufficiently
informed as+i•the building and other plans and it was moved by Councilman Naughton and second-
ed by Councilman Ammeter that the motion be tabled. Upon roll call vote, all five councilm
present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
Referred: The application was then referred to the building committee for investigatio .

This will acknowledge your letter of May llth with regard to additional parts for
the equipment purchased from us a short time ago.
Referring to the original order, vie find that amber lenses were furnished for all four
directions of the #43E suspension signal and the #Z41E suspension beacon. Likewise, there
was no radio interference filter specified for the EDS54 Simplex controller, nor was any in-
cltLaed in the purchase price.
Accordingly, vie are issuing an order for:

These w M be shipped as soon as possible and we will include diagram for the connectio

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTION S.
Parking Ordinance (Supplementing).
A proposed ordinance entitled "An Ordinance regulating and standing and parking
of motor vehicles on certain streets in the City of Port Townsend; providing a penalty for
violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict there-
with", was introduced and was read in full by the clerk for the first reading.
1st reading, to be second, and third by title.
It was moved by Councilman Aimneter and seconded by Councilman Naughton that the.
first reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading be by title only.
Upon Roll Call vote, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was
declared carried.
3rd reading and passage.
The Clerk then x•ea3 the ordinance by title only, for the 3rd
reading, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Naughton
that said ordinance do now pass. Upon Roll Call vote, all fine councilmen presemt voted
in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
Copy of Ordinance.
The following is a full and true copy of the said ordinance, to -wit:
ORDINANCE NO. 1078.
AN ORDINANCE regulating the standing and parking of motor vehicles on certain streets
in the City of Port Townsend; providing a penalty for violation thereof, and repealing
all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict therewith.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. On the following streets, that is to say: On Water Street from the easterly
line of Monroe Street to the westerly line of Tyler Street; and on Taylor Street from the
southerly line of Washington Street to Front Street, no motor vehicle will be permitted to
stand or park unless the same has been placed with the right-hand wheels parallel with the
curb and as close thereto as practicable, Provided However, that no standing, br`.parking what
soever of motor vehicles will be permitted upon the streets hereinbefore designated within
those zones which have been definitely marked with the words "NO PARKING".
Section 2. Any violation of this ordinance shall be deemed a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction shall be punished by a fine of not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or im-
prisonment in the city jail for a period of not to exceed thirty (30) days, or broth such
fine and imprisonment.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, be, and the same
are hereby repealed.
Section4. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader and to take
effect and be in force five days from and after such publication.

Resolution. Petition not to log -off
Big Quilcene River Water -shed.
A resolution praying that no further logging operations be permitted in the Big
Quilcene River watershed as the same affects the city water supply, visa intro-
duced, and read, as follows:
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, that future log-
ging operations within the Olympic National Forest, especialll within the zone of the water-
shed of the Big Quilcene River, the water supply of the City of Port Townsend, will prove
detrimental to that water supply, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend,
That it is the sense of this council that no future sales of timber for logging purpose
be made by the United States Government within the crater shed of the Big Quilcene .river in
the Olympic National Forest, and that the District Forester restrict said zone to travelers,
except on permit of the Forest Service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the District
Forester, Olympia, Washington.
