From Fred Teitzel, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, April 8, 1937 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington. !i Gentlemen: - Permission is requested to erect a frame dwelling house on Lots 6 and 8, Blocl 112, Original Townsite of Port Townsend. Cost is estimated at $1500.00. Respectfully submitted, Fred Teitzel. It was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said '. applications be granted. Motion declared carried. o REQUISITIONS. Requisitions were presented, read, and disposed of as follows: For the Street and Highway Department, to -wit: 1 bbl, motor oil (#30 Union) (signed) A. D. Swanson It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and'seconded by Councilman Brown that the said requisition be granted. Motion declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS. Bids for Wood. This being the date set for opening bids to supply the city with 10 cords of wood, the Mayor declared same to be in order. The bid of Elmer Whitehouse, being the sole and only bid, the same was opened and his bid was as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, April 20, 1937 City of Port Townsend, Sirs: I will put 10 cords of 12 in. old growth fir wood at the city hall for ($6.50) Six Dollars and 50 cts per cord. I am, Elmer Whitehouse, R 3 City It was moved by Councilman Ammeter and seconded by Councilman Naughton that the said bid be approved and accepted, delivery and inspection of the wood to be approved by Roy Seavey. Upon Roll Call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Insurance on Motor Vehicles. In response to call for proposals and rates to insure the motorized equipment of the City Street Lepartment, proposals and rates were received and presented and read, from the following: F. W. Eisenbeis; Geo. Welch; H. M. Merriam; N. A. Klasell. The rates quoted by the bidders were uniform and are as follows: $5000/10000 Public Liability - $13.00; $5000 PropertyiDamage - $9.00; Fire & Theft -$1.95 per $100.00 with a minimum of $5.00 premium. If equipment is over 18 me. old, 75� per hun. Since the rates quoted in all four proposals are uniform, the said proposals are not herewith set out in full but are hereby referred to and made a part of these minutes -with the same force and effect as though set out here in full. For the time being the propo- sals were referred to the Council as a whole. BIDS ON TRUCK. The following bids were received in response to published notice asking proposals to furnish the city with one 1 ton truck for the Street Department, to -wit: From Buhler Motor Company. Port Townsend, Gentlemen: - We submit the following bid for a 1937 Chevrolet one ..and half ton chassis and cab, together with dump body, as requested in your call for bids to be opened April 20th, 1937. 131Q inch W.B., 1}, ton cab and chassis, with overload springs, four speed forward, one reverse transmission, equipped with 600x2O tires front and dual rear, $ 806.70 Anthony, Hydraulic hoist dump body 2 yd capacity, installed 315.00 Body as per attached folder. L. Short Motor Company By N. L. Short. The said bids were referred to the Council as a whole. Recess Declared. Mayor Hirtzler then declared a short recess to enable the Council, as a committee of the whole to consider all of the foregoing bids. Re -convened and Roll Call. Council reconvened at 9:35 o'clock p.m., with all officers and councilmen present except Councilman Sather. Equipment Insurance Awarded. Taking up the matter of proposals to insure the street motor equipment, it was moved by Councilman DeLeo and seconded by Councilman Ammeter, that the said equipment be insured for fire and theft for the maximum amount insurable, for $5000/10000 public lia- bility and $5000 property damage and that the insurance should be apportioned among those submitting proposals as follows: To Geo. Welch, the present Chevrolet truck; to N. A. Klasell, the Adams Grader; to H. 14. Merriam, the Russell grader; and to F. W. Eisenbeis, the new truck to be purchased. Upon Roll Call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. CHEVROLET TRUCK BID ACCEPTED. In the matter of proposals submitted to furnish the city with a truck, it was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Lewis that the city purchase a Chevrolet Truck as specified in the bid of the Buhler 11otor Company as being the best bid submitted. Upon Roll Call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Meister Water Delinquency_ Earlier in the session; and with the consent of the Coun- cil, Peter ?,,,sister proposed to pay his water delinquency ad rapidly as possible and to keep the current bills paid promptly if he visa permitted to take service at a new location, ex- plaining that he had been ill, with practically no income for several months. The request was referred to the dater Committee and the Water Superintendent. Tap for Pea Cannery. {later Supt. Lockhart brought up the matter of putting in a new tap at the cannery in place of the old tap which was cut off when the old line was abandone, It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman DeLeo that the tap be re -in stalled at the expense of the city. Motion declared carried. Lockhart Appointed Water Supt. Mayor Ilirtzler now formally announced the appointment of S. L. Lockhart as Water Superintendent at a salary of $150.00 monthly, beginning April 1st.
