Notion declared carried. From Chief of Police, to Oondarmr Building. Chief of Police Willestoft submitted the following letter for consideration of the Counr:il, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, Doe. 14, 1936 Hon. Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: - I hereby inform the City Council that the property on the corner of Water Street and Monroe consisting of an old building is now vacant, and is open to transcients and other undesirable individuals, and as it stands now it constitutes a fire hazard making it dngerous to nearby property and business. From Chamber of Commerce, Re: Sidewalks. Communication from Port Townsend Chamber of Cor.anerce relative to condition of certain down -town sidewalks, was presented and read, as follows: Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port 'Townsend, Washington, Doe. 3, 1936 Port Townsend, "lashington. Gentlemen: - The Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce would respectfully call your attention to the dangerous condition of the sidewalks on the following city streets: North side of Washington to Adams; East side of Adams from Water to 11lashington; South side of Washington -Adams to Quincy. It is suggested that there sidewalks blocked off if they cannot be placed in ser- viceable condition, as an accident is easily possible under existing conditions and would probably result in a suit for damnges against the city. Respectfully submitted, Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce. By Jas. G. McCurdy, Secretary. The Matter was referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report. REQUISITIOHS, For Mayor and City council. The Mayor presented ❑ requisition for Stationery in the approximate amount of .;?4.00. It was moved by Councilman lirtzler and seconded by Councilman Naughton that the requisition be granted. Motion declared carried. UIIFIIIISIIED AND T'SCl BUSINESS. Release Bonding Company Account Dobbs Estate. City Attorney Daly made a statement that certain small claims by the city against the Dobbs Estate had been liquidated and that if the bonding company visa now released, the city could make claim against the bonding company for unearned bond premium on the bond of the late City Treasurer, I,:rs. H. E. Dobbs. It ties moved by Councilman Hirtzler• and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to sign such release. Lotion declared carried. Weather Stripping for 7lindowrs. Councilman Hirtzler reported that a firm making a specialty of installing metal weather stripping had submitted an estimate and proposal to weatherstrip the windows and call: around the windowr frames of the 13 windows in the 'Treasurer's City Clerk's and :'later Dept.- City Engineer offices for a,total sum of 5$65.00, the same firm having performed the same kind of work at the County Court Runes, and stated that it was his belief that the ac- tual saving in fuel would pay for the installation in a few years, as well as to add to the comfort of the city employees. Councilman Iirtzler then moved, the motion being seconded by Councilman Sather, that the proposal be accepted and that the City Clerk so notify the Company, specifying that the price was to include caulking around the window frames. Lotion declared carried. Presentation to Lammers: Before adjournment, City Attorney Daly, on behalf of the City Council, presented retiring Councilman ;;m. Lammers with a tobacco pipe in token of the estemm in v;hich he was held for his long and faithful services. Councilman Larmners re- sponded in a hapy voin and thnnked the Council and assured the members that he deeply appre ciated their w:pression of regard. ADJOURNIZITT .
